To all those that tell me I never shitpost, this one could be for you.......

I spend too much time looking at data and apparently, if you twist it the right way, it can turn into information. Sometimes that information can be interesting, and sometimes it will just piss you off.

I like engagement, I think it's a positive thing for the network. Two sets of data posts I do each week are based around engagement, one for utopian-io, and one for the people signed up to my Leagues. Before observing today's masterpieces, you should sign up to the Leagues, particularly if you like to make comments and reply to people when they like your 'nice post'.

The one chart

Brain-storming, coding, starting again, coding, analyzing, and presenting information - takes time you know. And sometimes, you can get to the end of a piece of work and think, that's totally useless, no-one is going to give a rats ass about that.

These charts though, absolute winners - breaking into new ground here I think. And the magical thing this analyst noticed, he just needed to change the title.

But on the serious side. I also did read the post of @tarazkp. Well I have been blessed with some good Steem Friends, which are doing everything within their power to help me increase, yes I do consider you one of them.
But they all know that I will not take the money and run. I will power up every little dime I can, only not know with the Word Cup Contest.
The same goes for our community! We have been blessed with some nice degelations, without these it would not have been possible!

I haven't been blessed with getting a lot of upvotes from whales, last week I did receive my first and you know what this moron did with it? He turned it all into extra prize money for the contest.

Yellow looks good.

I'm hopeful that much of the people like you I interact with fairly often are going to stick with it. It's a slog, and always has been - perhaps the first few months I wasn't here March -July 2016 were different.

Looking forward to the WC and the contests, should be a good boost to engagement :D

It really should. Persistence is one the of the hardest things, for sure if you do feel unnoticed. But honestly most of these unnoticed people, don't take actions to get noticed.
Belonging to a community increase the chances that you will stick to the platform, just like your engagements league it keeping people a board! @paulag did even prove this!

well apparently I am still a minnow and I am powering up to become a dolphin... hoping to change it to 1.0001%
and I am also running a witness (part of a team) and we have nothing to do with EOS (for the moment) so that would bring it to 1.0005% and I do not like trending, I prefer hot :-)
Damn I guess I am not like most Steemians... (that I will take as a compliment)

on a side note, @surfermarly told me you are in Mallorca... I will be there for close to 3 weeks from 01/07 are there any steem meetups going on??

Okay. So, none of this is true?

The haejin bit is close. He's currently at 96.09% self-voting, but it does tend to fluctuate a little.

The EOS one is kind of disturbing (and it was the one that made me wonder how in the world you might have pulled it off of the blockchain).

No. 1 is wishful thinking and No. 2 is probably closer to the truth than we all want it to be.

Any other brilliant not real pie charts brewing?

What about pulling data for us like you were doing a while back, before the hiatus and the illness and the witnessing and whatever else you're doing? :)

I sense a little frustration Glen, and you know what, I'm glad.

It tells me you care, want to be here, and are willing to put the work in to try to grow your account - inspite of the tough environment right now.

Whilst I can back none of the above with statistics, some is probably closer to the truth than we wish. Don't shoot the messenger though, I'm trying to do my bit 😊

This has hopefully helped clear some recent frustrations, I'll try to return to content that adds value very soon.

Maybe there is some frustration that I wasn't entirely aware of myself. Reading that last sentence sounds like I was getting on you for not doing a data post, which wasn't what I was going for at all. Sorry about that. Sometimes in my efforts to be light and approaching humorous I miss the mark. My sideways smiley doesn't always cut it.

Still, I would greatly appreciate any kind of data pull post that you might do, and I certainly do not begrudge any of what's now on your plate, if that came across as such, too. It's the way you show you care. :)

I was the messenger (published newspapers for 15 years), so I never shoot them. And let's be honest. You're more than doing your bit, and we all very much appreciate all you do. Okay, now I'm speaking for everyone, which will probably get me in hot water. :)

How did you even find a three month old comment? That in itself must have been quite the search :)

Anything tailor made to each of us is going to go down well. That's what's so valuable about them. A lot of data gets pulled, but when it doesn't specially have anything to do with us, it's just abstract information waiting to be applied. So, when you pull a list that we can see numbers of what we're individually doing and how that stacks up with others is very much welcome as far as I'm concerned.

I don't suppose you'd care repeating some of the earlier ones you've done. I mean there's probably ones I've never seen from any that would have happened during the earlier parts of this year or anytime before that. Maybe you'd rather wait to do that. At any rate, there's always something worth revisiting.

I hate numbers and graphs, it’s ingrained in my DNA. But these graphs work very well.. I think you’re onto a magic formula here. Quick, you need to package them and go to market!

Also big on engagement and I’m glad to see a witness do his comedic entertainment duties. I’ve been trying to convince a couple of other baby witnesses to do their bit with no luck!

I think it's pretty cool to see this actually. Especially since I've been thinking about some of these things ever since I launched my asapers project. For instance, do I make a difference in peoples lives, and will Steemit benefit due to my actions?

Minnows powering up...1%. That's a shame, but I don't judge them. Not the slightest bit.

If things would be different on Steemit, and officials would be out here trying to communicate and solve certain things today, things would be different in a heartbeat. Now we see an announcement about something cool, that will be launched in a few months... Sure, it's nice to see something, but such small things will never change peoples minds and actions. No matter how cool it sounds.

People will change their approach whenever they feel it's necessary... And that seems to be a long time from now.

You are, for certain. It's just that progress is slow and hard to notice day-to-day. Zoom out to 6 months and you'll see it, and don't compare to the 1% at the top.

Some people live off their STEEM, and so cashing out is part of the process. What I hoped to do with the Leagues though is build a group of red fish -> minnows -> to dolphins, who can support each other.

Offering free delegations, as you know, is a step backwards for us in order to pull people up - it's just seems like a fruitless task when they are not building their account.

Put another way, new joiners / small accounts should not be looking at using their STEEM to live off just yet, SP is the key asset for the coming years and now is the time to be collecting!

I don't even think that current dolphins really sold their houses and convert it into steem, it just you(dolphins) played the game well (not telling it in a bad way). One built a platform, other one had a great idea to attract delegators, some choose to run a bot, other one did something else. And these happened when the competition was low.

I mean if I need to be 1500 + 1, I need to put $15k into the table. And in return, I'll be able to upvote for $2 - $3. I know my math sucks but this doesn't feel right.

Not that I want to create any work, but do we have any idea how many people are drawing an income from Steemit, and what proportion of those fit into different income bands? Do we have an idea, for example, how many people are drawing the equivalent to an avarage salary (the mean salary in the UK is something like £26,000)?

This is sad, sad, sad. I would never power up beyond the ability to post and earn here for all of those reasons. I fear for anyone who has money tied up in this place.

But for me - the worse problem is the minnow killrate at 95%+++.

Out of the maybe 20 content creators I have brought in here in the last year - NONE remain. I know them all on other platforms and several hate steemit and love to talk smack about it now.

I'm really an old accountant lady with a lot of experience with startups that fumble around until they die. This is the most successful place I have ever seen that tries to kill itself so hard.

Conclusions?

Nobody bothers with the trending page, it just makes other steemians jealous.
Minnows do not power up, they take their crumbs and make a little ball and put them in their piggy banks. Then they give up on Steemit saying it's not worth it.
Haejin does what everyone on Steemit wishes they could do. Upvote himself to the moon with no pressure to produce any valuable content. He keeps getting stronger and stronger and even while he's scorned, his influence continues to grow.
I'm not entirely convinced that it's a bad thing for witnesses to be into EOS. Who can blame them? EOS is growing while STEEM is sinking. Which will be the long-term winner? It's my belief that anyone betting on EOS will find they made the wrong choice.
