A Rat, A Pigeon, And A Spider Walk Into A Bar. "Second Wind", My Newest Graphic Novel

in comics •  6 years ago  (edited)

Hello!
Steemit is back up! Fantastic. I have not posted much lately as I am currently working on putting the final touches together of my graphic novel Second Wind so I figured it was time to hop back on here.
.... it seems as though I have been saying that for months now, and by final touches I mean fumbling through troubleshooting all of the issues that pop up when organizing a book. It's healthy though. I have already learned a lot about the process and I am humbled by knowing now that there is a lot to learn (including much more than I already have). Turns out drawing and writing the damn thing is only half the battle!
So to get you introduced to my latest work I am going to start posting some images from Second Wind up here. These images will not be posted chronological to the story, but instead just as I come across them while working on the book. The short of the story is that it takes place in Chicago and follows the daily challenges and struggles of a Pigeon, Rat, and Spider (spiders are EVERYWHERE in Chicago during the beginning of the Fall. The big nasty bulbous brown ones too). I hope you enjoy it! Keep an eye out for more images coming soon, and I will also have further explanations of the meaning behind the story in the coming posts.

Thanks for checking it out so far! If you would like to see the story in its entirety it is posted up at Vestebancomics.com under the "Second Wind" tab. I am also currently working on the cover and will be posting some process shots of that soon. Keep at it Steemians!

Each panel in your comic is amazing, vesteban. You're really good at drawing, but my favourite in this page is how you drew the buildings.

Really lovely with all of those nice perspectives <3.

Thank you so much! Yah I kinda geek out on drawing buildings haha. I appreciate your comment!

Wonderful to see you back to posting, @vesteban ! I've missed your beautiful talented posts so much !!!

Love this pages! Your inking is amazing, and that cityscape is SUPER AWESOME * ___ *

Hope you will be posting more from now on :)

Thank you! And thank you for the nudge ;) I will be checking out the messaging system soon!

Although spiders scare me to death, I still find it the main characters funny and unexpected. Great inking, oh and so jealous of all the experience you gain while making a book :D! Is it hard? I mean, all the print related stuff besides the actual drawing

Thank you! And I hate spiders too. It was actually REALLY difficult looking up the reference material to draw it in this comic. It gave me the creeps, but also desensitized me a bit haha! And yes there is a lot that goes in to printing that I had no idea about. I think when I have done it correctly once it will be easier in the future, but there is a lot that goes around it. Thank you for the message!

Thanks for sharing your work with us. I've seen so many new #comics on Steemit.

I enjoyed the story. It was almost like watching an animation

This is fantastic! I didn't know you could make a direct link and I will be updating this soon. Thank you for the useful information!
