Explain this photo contest.

Yesterday I notice two shadows from one flag. I looked all around there was not two flags with the same type of top ornament on it. There was one other flag in the place and it had a cross top ornament on it. So I have no clue how one flag has two shadows.

So I decided to make this a creativity contest

Give me your best explanation in the comments below. Every explanation on how this happened will recieve an upvote. And the most creative one will also recieve $5 SBD and a STEEM social media done right luggage tag.

My uneducated guess would be that there are two different light sources hitting the flag at different angles creating a sort of optical illusion.
Kind of like how in the picture below, at first glance, one red line looks longer than the other, but they are actually the same

Love optical illusions

Hello , in my point of view there must be a another refecting angle sunlight. 1st shadow is made by direct light coming from sun. 2nd shadow is also made by sunlight but it was not direct , first it fall on a mirror like object then refect his angle and then fall on flag . So you can see 2 shadows of one flag.
If it is a indoor room then shadows made by two light bulb situated different places, light comes to flag with different angels and refelct 2 shadows.
(One thing more which not belong to science, flag wants your love and attention so he made his own two shadow so you can notice him)

It was in an inner sancatuary with no windows.

Then there must be two light souce in the room with nearly oppusite direction, their light source's light fall on flag and made own shadow. So you can see two shadows

Logically I know two lights had to be shining on it. But when the color guard was standing next to the flags there wasn't two shadows of them. That is what makes it a little weird and if you look at yesterdays photos you can see it again from another angle that my husband took. Only that object is casting two shadows.

Please don't horrifying me. Ther must be something super natual in your house. And you have involve me in this matter . I am afraid but cant leave you alone because of 5SBD which is the biggest ever amount for me on steemit.

It was in a church not my house thankfully.

Then definitely it is a spiritual thing, one shadow is a good one and other one is bad one. Bad shadow bounded by good shadow in church. Bad shadow (evil spirit) want to escape by human help. Thats why he getting your attention. Dont go closer to it. First pray and then drop holy water on both shadows. See what happened?

There has to be two sources of light in two different locations shining on the flag for the flag to cast two shadows. both shadows are otherwise identical and they both intersect.

The number of heads and where those heads are facing in the picture suggest that this picture was taken in an auditorium. Auditoriums have many sources of lighting to fill the stage. That the setting of the picture looks like an auditorium increases my confidence that there is more than one light shining on the flag.

I thought that too at first but it was the only object in the place with two shadows. Even when the color guard was standing on either side. They didn't cast two shadows. I tried to figure it out logically too but if that was the case the kids should have cast two shadows also. It was in a church.

From the knowledge of physics, shadows are formed when light rays hit an obstacle. A single light source on an object would produce a single shadow. But in the case of the flag, two shadows are produced, the explanation for this is that light on the flag is from two different sources, hence producing dual image.

Graduation day. Time to consider: which path are you going to choose. Two paths diverging in a yellow wood and all that.

All the future potential in that room was just too much for the flag, and it split into two realities.

Or someone was performing a variation of the double slit physics experiment from the back of the room. The flag is actually in two places at once, only coalescing when you observe it. But because it thinks you're watching the ceremony, it forgot to tidy up its shadows.

Love the tie into the graduation

Definitely two points of light. But you said get creative so here's my creative answer...

The flag didn't realize there was a graduation that day and invited his girlflag over to the auditorium to have a flag party. The two of them love shadow dancing. The screens were prepared and suddenly there were people flooding into the auditorium, so the girlflag stood still afraid to move....d7f8228a-e4fd-463c-93a2-5ac50796a2e5.jpg

Thank you. These are the type of answers I hope to get. LOL

If I am eligible to win I would like to donate back the $5 sbd and luggage tag to your next contest!!! (If I were to win that is)

The logical answer explanation is two light sources...
And the creative answer is
May be the canvas behind the flag was made/painted with two flag shadows...just to intrigue the observer:)

I like this answer to screw with people lol

Two light sources.

However, it appears to be an elaborated version of Plato's Cave to explain how two different universes come up with identical versions of an abstract truth. The flag represents the abstract reality (the real form of abstract ideas). The shadows represent the pale images that become the abstract ideas (like mathematical concepts) in the two universe's realities. Thus, showing that mathematical concepts are consistent across multiple universes.

Must of been an impressive lecture to have that as a backdrop!

It was my sons graduation

Congratulations! High School or University?

Nevermind, I just saw the other post. Congratulations again!

la lógica indica de dos fuentes de luz una era la luz de techo y la otra con el flash de tu camara. mi mente no da para mas jajajaj

I never use flash on my cameras unless it is at night

se puede intentar otra vez para los venezolanos? :)

Yep as many times as you want on this one. There is no right or wrong answer either. This is all about fun creativity and imagination.

VOY CON TODO

Hi @tecnosgirl! I think that there are two logical answers. 1) First shadow is direct light from indoor lighting and the other shadow is made from the reflection off of the stone wall to the left.

-OR-

  1. One shadow is direct room lighting and the other made by someone else's camera flash, taken at the exact same time that you took your photo. My guess is most likely number 1, as you can easily see the amount of glare on that left wall...(the glare could be from the other person's flash too I suppose.)

Since flag and glare is on the left of the stage, and lighting/audience would be to the right, it makes sense. Based on the amount of glare on that left side wall, and the slight difference in shadow height, I would guess that stage lighting (lower) reflected off the wall would be the most likely.

My creative answer? It is clearly a top secret Government test. Operation Shadow Flag. There is a cloaking device on the real flag, projecting a picture of whatever is behind it...so it is camouflaged and invisible to everyone. But is still throws a shadow.
The flag that everyone sees and salutes is actually a hologram. Hidden behind this "Fake Flag" is the New Facebook Flag. They are conditioning us to go back.
You have accidentally exposed their plan through your exposure. Now it is public. Lock your doors and don't answer for anyone...
especially if they look like Mark Zuckerberg.

Good thing I am always armed when I am at home. No Mark Zuckerberg's are getting in here.

Haha...always be prepared 😁

Ahhhh! If my friend, you sat long enough in the presence of the sight of the slightly lighter image of the two that were before you, you would have indeed noticed that what it was blessed smoke from the Great Spirit which was there to make sacred the event of the going forward of our new and blessed generation. Which in every endeavour, and every step along their long happy life journey, will continue to bring forth the good work of our people. Indeed it was a very sacred ceremony you were a part of that very special loving day 🌄🙌 hai hai

MAGIC BABY!! GOOD OL MAGIC :D

Being an alumni of hogworts that should have been my first go to. LOL

haha damn I mean you don't want all them muggle knowing your secrets though ;)

True true....

There is source of light at 90° and another from straigh way just behind you or it mid b due to your mobile flash.. Which result in 2 images formation

I don't use flash unless I am taking photos in the dark. Puts shadows on things where you don't want them.

One shadow is due to side reflection and one is due to the mercury kept at bottom of it.. Other sourcr of light is above it may be at top in same column

eso es debido a un espejo que esta oculto y pasa asi como los vampiros que cuando se ven en un espejo no se reflejan. en este caso se refleja doble con su sombra

I think the big image is virtual image and small one is original image(shadow) of object..
May be due to reflection

this only happens due to the light on the side that has the flag. and it is reflected behind. This happens when there is little light on the site and only one part gives more light.

Two different light sources.

I am looking for creative answers not logical ones.

la bandera con dos guarda espaldas jajajaja. esa si esta buena
