Hey folks, sorry I didn’t post yesterday, but it was GRANDPA day, so I was pretty busy taking care of my seven-month-old granddaughter---who is now CRAWLING already! She’s a handful, but a lot of fun. We’ve been digging on ‘80’s music lately, listening to a bunch of OLD tunes (I’m old, so that’s the stuff I know), like “Mickey” by Toni Basil, “Doctor! Doctor!” by The Thompson Twins, “I Got You” by Split Enz, “Strawberry Fields Forever” by Candy Flip, “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper, “Rapture” by Blondie and so on. (She smiles and laughs when her favorites come on, but she hasn’t quite figured out DANCING yet… Hopefully, by summertime, she’ll be ravin’ with me!)
Meanwhile, I haven’t been STATIC (despite the remarkable increase in the number of NAPS that I take now.) I DID finish Uncle Randy’s book (and marked it off my list---you remember the LIST, right???) I also finally got around to making a digital version of his new book and submitted it to KDP this morning. (I’ll post a note once it’s up and available, for anyone who is interested in reading a digital version of Bigfoot and Further Adventures. I also added this book to my “Books You Can Buy!” page on The Primitive Entertainment Workshop site AND (FINALLY!!!) added a “Books You Can Buy!” page to the Non-Com Arts Blog! (And X-ed that off my list, too!!!)
I also ordered some paper copies of the new book, as well as a few restocks, (although I think I might have already mentioned that.) I'm slowly but surely making my way through my projects! ALTHOUGH!!! I don't know how much I'm going to accomplish tomorrow because Mariah and Ellie and I are going to see Peewee’s Big Adventure on the big screen in Portland, Oregon, with special guest, Paul Reubens, doing a talk after the film. We’re pretty excited! And we’ve heard that the show is completely sold out! Luckily, Ellie was ON IT, and bought our tickets the day they went on sale!!! They aren’t allowing cameras or phones into the show, but I’m sure I’ll do some kind of write-up of the event anyway---as I tend to do!
And, last, as I mentioned in the title, I’ve ALSO completed and uploaded a new piece of CRYPTO-ART, which is being tokenized on the Ethereum blockchain by the fine folks at MakersPlace! It’s being release as a unique piece (an addition of ONE) and will not be reprinted. (So---FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED!) To see this new piece, as well as the dozens of other works of crypto art that are just sitting there, bored, hoping for a visitor to entertain, check out my MakersPlace store / slash / gallery! It’s ginchy keen! Meanwhile, here’s the new art bit (along with my description from the gallery): [UPDATE!!! This piece SOLD in less than an hour. Sorry...]
“Ghost Guy”
[Sharpie and felt pen on found cardboard with digital embellishments and color. 2020.]
Okay folks, TRUE CONFESSIONS time... I'm considering this little ghost guy a bit of a self-portrait, at the moment. We're both blue, both drifting somewhat aimlessly through the night, and a bit listless!
I've always been a nervous fellow, full of anxiety and worry. Terrible sleeper, neurotic, obsessive... It turns out, however, that harboring ALL THAT ANXIETY for decades was dangerously close to killing me! Two weeks ago, I ended up in the ER with a 220+ blood pressure... BUT here we are, despite the SCARE, still alive and kicking! (Unlike my little ghost guy.)
However, as with all brushes with Eternity, some LIFE changes had to follow, and I am now heavily medicated (for both anxiety and high bp), and I'm no longer allowed to eat any of my favorite stuff anymore (like gas station chicken strips, extra-cheese pizza, chips, and all that wonderful sodium.) The positives are obvious: I'm not about to have a stroke. There are a few negatives, however, including DROWSINESS and a bit of a dip in my powers of motivation. I used to wake up, bright and early, and bounce around the house making noise and bugging all the folks who weren't "morning people." (Mostly my wife.) NOW, I gotta drag myself out of bed, take a handful of pills, and TRY not to sleep the whole day away!
Luckily, I've got some motivational techniques that seem to be working. (TO-DO LISTS, primarily...) It is definitely HARDER to get myself to the drawing table than it used to be, and it's more difficult to READ without it becoming a NAP, but...it's better than the alternative!
Sorry Ghosty, it's going to be awhile before I can join you on your nightly drifts!!!
That's it for today! Thanks for stopping by and visiting!!!
