Bitcoin: Digital Gold or Digital Cash?

In this segment from one of my previous livestreams, I discuss whether I perceive Bitcoin to be a store of value similar to gold, or whether I see it more as a medium of exchange for purchasing everyday goods like fiat currencies are currently used for.

While I agree with your approach, the potential to mix both concepts is huge. Imagine being able to protect your assets from third parties with the ease of use of credit cards. The potential for that is what make me consider going further than just a store of value.

Gold and cash.

Digital gold! There are other way faster cryptos that could be used as cash because they are faster and have higher supplies!

I think until there is the necessary infrastructure in place for the ease of purchase, spending and selling of BTC, the main use-case will be as a store of value. If we see considerable upgrades in infrastructure and scalability I can see BTC being utilized in the way we use fiat.

As a store of value, as long as there is art and other collectables considered 'valuable' it undeniable that BTC can also be considered as such.

I mostly agree. I'm much more in the Store of Value (SoV) camp rather than the Medium of Exchange (MoE) camp. I spend my dollars because they lose value over time, I don't want to hold them. I hold (hodl) my Bitcoin because it increases in value over time. So far this has held up over the years and I believe it will continue. I think that's Bitcoin's value proposition and it should continue. Bitcoin's functionality right now is not as good as some other coins as a MoE, so I am willing to spend another crypto as an everyday MoE if it is a better choice.

@louiethomas Digital Gold it is. Although, am totally up for the idea of mixing them both

Bitcoin digital cash and gold.
