In Grayscale's latest 'Digital Asset Investment Report', there was some surprising data. The most shocking of which was that of all the institutional money that flowed into crypto in Q1 2019, 99% of it poured into strictly Bitcoin related products.
What does this mean exactly? Let's discuss!

Good to see institutional investors investing in crypto especially in bitcoin. Nice run recently though. I can’t wait to see where it all goes in the next 5,10...years.
BTW nice place you have there 😃.

What that means is that as custody solutions are currently present only for Bitcoin, it makes sense to invest in Bitcoin at first. Later, though Coinbase and other large players will develop and release similar products for institutions that allow them to invest in other cryptos. Whether they will be rolled out and deemed acceptable by institutional investors before the next big bull run hits is questionable. It makes a lot of sense to focus on BTC now. Once BTC has peaked, it will be a good idea for retail investors to diversify into other cryptos. All the boats will rise because of the influx of institutional money but Bitcoin will obviously be the first one to benefit.

I think most of them are buying this whole year. They are ready to dump btc on the retailers 😂

What that means is that the price will go up for the whole upcoming year. Each and every bull run ends with large holders dumping.

That’s what they “believe”. It takes time for that to happen. Institutions already been buying the whole year and will dump it all on the retailers “average joes”. I’m bullish but we can see a huge 40% dip maybe from $10k 😉

Regulations need to get sorted, then institutions will go big.

Even if institutional money only flows into Bitcoin, money from Bitcoin still flows to other projects no matter what.

I am not too surprised about the focus on bitcoin as the custodial solutions are more proven than others and it is the asset thatbhas potential to continue to evolve as many look to add to portfolios being more known.
