TOPIC:
Foiled Conspiracy
BIBLE READING:
Acts 23: 12-22
Qs. 2. See Questions HERE.
DISCUSSION:
God's ways are past finding out! God who knows tomorrow is the one we can depend upon to guide our footsteps as we face the unknown future with its problems both large and small. Why would more than forty men put themselves under oath, never to eat or drink until they have killed Paul? He who knows tomorrow was ahead of the plotters (see v. 11). He has a future for Paul's life and had stood beside him in his cell to encourage him. Nothing can stop him from testifying for the Lord in Rome.
When the enemy is determined to do a thing, he can go to any length to see to its actualization. See the plot (vs. 14-15). Fasting? He mobilized men who fabricated lies and falsely accused God's servant. He did that to Naboth (1 Kings 21) and Jesus (Luke 23: 2-3) among others. Today some religious fundamentalists, ISIS, Boko Haram, Al Shaba, etc. are busy killing believers in Christ.
Read vs. 16-22 to discover how God intervened and foiled their conspiracy using Paul's nephew and the Roman Commander. What do we learn from Paul's reaction in v. 17? He was unruffled.
And so:
Only faith in Christ and the assurance of His word can give us courage to face challenging situations like Paul's.
Prayer:
Father, in your power bring every plan of the wicked and ungodly people against your children to naught.
REMAIN BLESSED!
