Proper housing is a major social and political issue in many countries with large populations. Cost of housing has skyrocketed so much that in these countries a large section of the population cannot afford to own houses and live in crammed rented places or in squalid conditions.
Sometimes people are displaced from their homes due to man-made or natural catastrophes such as wars and earthquakes. In such circumstances, it would normally take years for them to get back to where they were before the catastrophe.
If we could 3d print houses fast and economically, it could offer a solution to the above identified issues.
Currently houses can be constructed using 3d printing in a few days. As for the cost of 3d printing houses the prices have come down substantially and they are likely to come down even further in the next few years.
It is very possible that in the very near future, the cost of 3d printing houses becomes so economical that people will likely to resort to 3d printing of houses widely.
