Just Lace Up and Get Out The Door

Hi Friends,

Some of you may have seen a few days ago where I talked about how I'd be using @actifit more often on my secondary account @shinebright. I have to say... just by tracking what I've been doing the last few days and knowing that I'll have to post it to the blockchain that night - I've actually found more motivation than I thought I would.

Instead of just tracking my steps though - I've been having fun taking some kind of photo for the thumbnail image that day that really represents something fitness related that happened that day.

Here are my first few!

The Daily Health Highlight Reel

I also added a segment to my Actifit report called the health highlight reel where I keep track of healthy wins from the day and add them into the report. Things like making a smoothie, or going for walks throughout the day, or trying to spend less time staring a screen etc.

To be honest - tracking this kind of stuff has probably been more motivating than just tracking my steps alone. I don't want my highlight reel to be empty on a given day - so it motivates me to make little healthy choices throughout the day so I can build out my list.

Just Lace Up and Get Out the Door

Ok... now onto the real reason for this vlog. It's one thing to keep a healthy highlight reel of all these great things...but that's definitely not the whole picture. The real picture is me sitting on my ass trying to convince myself to go for that run.

Even though my body feels great afterwards and I know the exercise is good for me... it's still hard to talk myself into it after a long day at work. I mean I should probably make some content or work on @steemonboarding stuff anyway right??

One of the best pieces of advice I've ever heard on the topic of fitness is the idea of simply lacing up and walking out the door. Instead of spending time thinking about how much a 25 minute run is going to suck or how I don't have the energy... I just have to take that first step and trust the rest will follow.

It always does. Once out the door and actually running... it's really not that hard to just finish my run at that point.

Cheers to you all on your own journeys of health and I look forward to chatting with you below!

XO, Lea

Very cool! I'm a huge "Strava" app fan, and it definitely motivates me to run... Never heard of Actifit before! Glad to know about it now. Thanks!
Lastly, new music... that's an awesome running motivator.

Fantastic to see you doing those activity reports. Yes our vision is the more details and more motivating content you have, the better, which is one of the reasons content rich reports get higher rewards.
Keep up the great work and the amazing motivation! And feel free to throw in ideas at us for improvements, hit us up on discord

I'm was talking myself out of going to the gym tonight, but your video motivated me to stop whining and go. I won't blame you on every rep I struggle with though. You're only tied to getting me out the door here.

YES!! Mission accomplished. I hope you didn't have to turn my name into a swear word too many times during the workout. lol

sweet kicks :D I got up to 6k today lol no work out day that 10k is crazy rough to get to. Congrats on making changes and sticking to them

Thanks! I loooove these shoes. They are the Brooks Launch. I work with Brooks pretty often and so I get pro deals with them.... I have to restrain myself from buying too many shoes! haha

Just Do It! The first step is the hardest but the body is an amazing vessle that gets acquainted pretty quickly!

We've actually had a pretty mild winter... but it's still in the 40's/50's. Too cold for my preference... but you might be surprised how quickly your body starts warming up once you are running.

That’s not too bad then. I don’t think you’ll find me running tomorrow.... -40 below with the wind chill 😳😱

That boardwalk is so pretty! Love that you're training seriously for our pull-up comp in Austin.

Yeah I’m so sooo serious about it (wink wink) 😉

I’d be surprised if I can even do 1. 😂 I might have to get one of those over the door hook things try it out though.

Love it! How are you finding @actifit? I tried it a while back and have been meaning to give it a second shot.

I really like it! I've found the step count to be pretty accurate compared to my apple watch. The only downside is that I don't always have my phone on me - so I'm usually missing a good amount of steps in the day.

I know that they are compatible with Fitbit - but I'm hoping they are able to connect with Apple Watch soon so I can get a more accurate representation.

Missing some steps doesn't bother me too much though. The main value I've seen is by actually posting it everyday. That accountability has definitely made me want to be more active.

Fitness is a lifelong journey. Be good to your body it's the only one you get.

Well said!

This is great to hear and the photographs looks great. I will waiting for you to hit the 10,000

Thanks! Yeah some days I do and some days I don't. Just depends on the day! I'm going to try and have more days where I get to the at point though. :)
