My Thoughts on Jeff Berwick's Opening Address at Anarchapulco 2019

in dtube •  6 years ago

Hi Friends!

I had the pleasure of attending Anarchapulco this year and so many of you have been asking about what I learned, who my favorite talks were etc. I am so excited to start sharing some of that with you here!

I took notes during the many talks I attended and am excited to share a little recap where I talk about my main takeaways, my thoughts, and then open it up for discussion in the comments.

Some talks I have pages of notes... where others I have just a few thought provoking take aways.

To start out - I am sharing a recap of Jeff Berwick's opening address!

I hope you guys enjoy and I can't wait to chat with you in the comment section below.

XO, Lea

Holy Mackeral! This is easily the best vlog I've seen on Dtube ever! The edits, the energy, the fascinating content. Well done Lea! Absolutely crushed it, this is so professional.

I'd be super curious to know if anyone spoke about alternatives to a two-party governmental system... and if anyone mentioned Blockchain DAO at all?

Your comment means sooo much to me!! I’m really excited to start focusing on making my videos as engaging to watch as possible. :-)

I would say that the two-party government situation wasn’t really discussed a ton because the people that are at this conference already think the system is a sham, so they didn’t really need to convince anyone that was there.

As for Blockchain, there is actually a crypto stage - but I didn’t go to those talks as much because they were fairly high-level sounding topics and a lot of the other talks sounded more interesting to me. Haha

I think Jeff is great and his challenges have been seen throughout the year but the fact that he remains consistent to the movement is inspiring!

I enjoyed Jeff's speech, but it's the 10 minutes we spoke face to face that really resonated with me. The best speech for me was Mark Passio. I'll also be writing up on all those thoughts, but Jeff showed vulnerability and he was genuine. He tamed his addiction and he was humble. He put together an amazing event.

Poor Girl back in the cube

How would you compare steemfest vibe with anarchapulco? I think they are quite similar.

“Girl in the cube” sounds like a good song title. Haha

Both had totally awesome vibes - but I think I liked Steemfest more! Mainly because I knew/followed so many of the people there and I couldn’t wait to meet them! I only knew a handful of people that were attending Anarchapulco, and so the energy was a little different in that way.

Caught JeffB's talk at the Texas Bitcoin conf last Oct. to a nearly empty auditorium. I was surprised that it wasn't better attended and felt slightly awkward that he had to spend time commenting on how empty it was. I recall walking away slightly uninspired but hopeful...

It sounds like you had a great time and possibly learned a lot. I haven't done a video in ages. It's great to see @rustle make an appearance too. :)
