The 14 year old was laying in hospital remembering how he and his friends were all feeling bored walking around the shopping centre. He wanted to liven up the day and suggested that they go for a ride in a stolen car. This is what gangs do.
He persuaded the other 5 friends to break into a locked car, he knew how start it without keys. His best mate in the gang was not too sure, he was scared about going to juvenile jail. The 14 year old told him and the others that they won't get caught, they will drive the car down the road and then dump it.
They found a new Mazda station wagon and broke in really quickly.
Although Crystal was 16 and the oldest she didn't want to drive so the 14 year old said that he would do it. Four sat in the back while his mate and he were in the front. He remembered being so confident that he could drive an automatic.
Everything was going really well until he turned onto a busy road. Everyone was talking and he got nervous. He was going very fast and drove through a red light hitting another car. He lost control, he heard yelling and crying and then it went blank.
When he woke up he saw his mother sitting beside the bed and told him that his best friend was dead. She was crying, the police will make sure he goes to jail this time. He should have listened to her, she was his mother. The 14 year old did not know how he felt. It was not suppose to end like this.
The police said that he was facing a lot of serious charges like unlawful operation of a motor vehicle causing death. They were big words he did not really understand. They were saying that it was his fault.
If only the 14 year old went to school that day instead of hanging out at the shopping centre. He knew that the was going to be sent to Juvenile Jail. There was no way he would be allowed to walk free. He felt bad for his mate, it was not suppose to end like this. He was feeling frightened. He had crashed into a car driven by a mother with a four little children.
The police told him that a "Juvenile Justice Worker" was coming to visit him to talk to him and his mother. Life will never be the same for this 14 year teenager who decided to go on a joy ride in a stolen car. If only he make all this go away.
Cheers and Blessings
Howdy angiemitchell..oh wow, how tragic. And this kind of thing happens way to often doesn't it? When teenage boys get together and hang out they usually find a way to get into trouble and this time it was deadly! What a shame.

Hi janton, yes it was terrible tragedy that this young man will always be with him in life. The young think they are impregnable, all is fun and fair game.

Howdy today angiemitchell! yes they always think they can do anyway and get away with it and nothing will hurt them. I guess it's that part of the brain which is undeveloped isn't it?

Howdy to you janton, yes it probably has got to do with it. But also if I hazard an educated guess poorly developed moral development. "As long as I don't get caught it is worth it!" I would also guess that there is lax parenting happening here too.

Very true angiemitchell, so many parents both have to work and the kids are on their own most of the time. It's fairly outrageous!

Yes janton, but not bad enough for the Department of Child Safety to intervene.
