Riding home for Follow Friday

in exhaust •  5 years ago

I just finished a 17.745km cycling that lasted about 1hh:1mm:42.0ss !

I took the bike to work on the train today as I wanted to pick up my pack for the race on Sunday. I was cool again, but I was hoping it would stay dry. I would normally leave quite early on a Friday, but I had to stay late to meet a deadline and so it was after 5 when I left. I did not think I would need my jacket on the way back as I soon warm up when riding. I took it fairly steady as there was no big rush and I do not want to wear myself out. It did actually rain a tiny bit, but nothing to worry about. I rode into Letchworth to Trisports where they were handing out the race packs. I did not browse too much, but they have some very expensive biked in there. Maybe some day I will upgrade.

The light was starting to go a bit by the time I got home, but it was just about okay to ride without likes. I had not expected to need any.

I am out for our local open mic tonight, but I still wanted to do my regular #FollowFriday post. My Inktober post will have to wait.

The Steem price is up a little on @CoinGecko. I do not know of anything specific driving this, but it always helps confidence. We need a boost right now. Things have been looking up since the last hardforks with big accounts handing out votes for nothing to good posts as they earn anyway from doing so. I hope they are also doing it for the general good of the platform.

I will give a mention to some fellow runners today including @marenontherun, @thp88, @ervin-lemark, @king-cobra, @toofasteddie, @bowery and @run.vince.run.

I will also some of the artists doing Inktober. @veryspider, @opheliafu, @carlgnash, @inber, @katharsisdrill, @michael.dime. Check out what is trending for some really good art. I am doing the challenge too, but I am a complete beginner just having fun with it.

In the doghouse this week is @mysearchisover who seems to think he is entitled to buy votes on his own comments. He is being quite abusive to anyone who questions this and dares to downvote him. Nobody is automatically entitled to rewards on Steem. They should be earned based on what others think. I see he keeps pushing the Leo tribe. It is fair enough that should do well, but not at the expense of Steem. I expect he is learning that the community is less tolerant of this kind of abuse. It is nothing personal, just for the good of the platform.

I would like to see Steemians of all levels being less self-serving. Even if you have bought lots of Steem does not mean you should give all your posts a big vote. If your content is good you will earn and you can benefit from curation rewards on votes for others. This would also give others a chance to trend. Right now we need to make Steem a good place for new users with good content so they stick around. If Steem keeps going up we all benefit.

I need to get to the pub now, so I will wish you all a great weekend, and Steem on!

I have not been on a bicycle for some years. I am saving up to buy one to help get in shape. My two passions as a younger man were running and riding a bicycle.

I once rode a bicycle from Henoko to Naha while stationed in Okinawa, Japan. That was quite a ride even for a young Marine. I would love to be in shape like that again!

Much appreciation for your contributions to STEEM in the way of music and interesting blogs not to mention your social engagement!

I went for years without much cycling, but have got back into it recently. I would love to do some longer rides, perhaps even a cycling holiday. Riding through Japan must have been a great experience. It's a country I want to go back to.

A busy day 😀

Have a great Sunday run.

You have uploaded 12 cycling activities, and 2 of them have been of similar distances (within 10 percent)!
Here are your 5-fastest cycling activities of a similar distance:

Over these 2 similar activities, you have travelled approximately 35.17 kms at an average pace of roughly 3:28 min/km!
Your latest run was at a pace of approximately 3.477min/km!
Looks like you went a bit slower this time! Remember that it's important to take some rest days, and do some rehab / prehab / strength and conditioning training too! If you weren't intending to go slower, take a moment to listen to your body, and see if you need something. Check in with yourself!

He has been doing some shady activity for quite some time now. Living just about 45 minutes South of me, I was excited to find another Steemian so close. Then I saw some of the posts and I decided not to pursue contact. I think I still follow them, but that is about it. You are going to be doing Triathlons before you know it!

Maybe you can beat some sense into him, he's calling me a thug for flagging his stupid comment votes.

I'm a lover not a fighter.

He seems a bit of a toxic character, so maybe avoid him. I have met someone I was downvoting and we managed to get along. Online and face to face are different things.

He's buying $5 comment votes now. I hope the community see and react. I don't want him to feel it's just me being the thug here.

That one has been dealt with. Let's see if he learns.

Thanks for the mention here! Visibility is an asset! !BEER

Hey, great ride. I've been cycling for a couple years now and for some reason only today 'discovered' the cycling tag. Nice to see other cyclists doing their thing!

I only ride now and then, but would like to do more. There are some nice places to ride around here and not too many hills.

Yep, it's the hills that are murder; you gotta get up before you go down. The city here is nice and flat at least.
