Life goes on, but GOD Fed the Homeless today!

When you work with volunteers, and they are buying, and cooking, large amounts of food; reminders are helpful. When we have a fifth Sunday situation, it also raises the level of confusion some.

I think one of them didn't remember that it was the fifth one, and just came to help serve, assuming that we would have enough. I bet he does NOT do that again, ROFLOL!

We just have to keep working to improve! I also need to delegate more on Beef stew weekends....

Be Blessed, and don't get hard forked!

sir smithlabs! yes the beef stew sounds like a ton of work, I forget how many roasters full of that were prepared but that's almost too much work for one person.
How many people are working on this stuff anyway? It would have to be alot! Are you in charge of this operation?

We have half a dozen kitchens cooking food, and each one does 5 to 10 gallons of food. I am in charge of the madhouse that is cooking, and my buddy makes sure that the equipment is fine, and present.

We have a 6,000 watt generator down, and a 3000 watt leaking gasoline. so he will be busy this month! They 3000 watt is an easy repair, but the big boy is not. I hope we don't have to buy another one!

We had two 6 gallon stock pots donated last week, that are helping already.

:D

sir smithlabs! who is going to try and repair those generators? is the other guy a mechanic? And what if it can't be repaired, how much do those cost anyway, the big 6,000 watt one?

The motor runs fine, it just does not make power. Actual generator damage possible, breakers okay.

I may need to look at it. It is past what Billy can fix.

The 6,000 watt unit will cost about $750 to replace, so I hope we can fix the unit!

:)

ok sir smithlabs..so that's an easy call..just fix the old unit.

If it is fixable...the generator is spinning, with no electrical output. May have burned out the actual generator part itself.

Well, the gas engine runs well, and we may find another generator unit. But we must have more generator power! We did not have enough power last Sunday, and we were short 5 roasters! Each roaster draws 1500 watts, so we need 7500 watts more.

We have 9000 watts if we get both running. Based on that, we need at least one more new one.

:'(

sir smithlabs! oh so you have to buy a new one in addition to fixing the old one, if the old one can be fixed even?
yikes. And the generators are used just to keep the big roasters warm?
Well, you guys do need a building then so you don't have to use the generators and aren't those things awful loud to have running right there behind the tables?

And what about in the winter time? How do you keep from everything freezing?

If we have trouble with any generator, we have to allow a roaster to grow cold. We need another, just to have a buffer, in case one breaks when we need it!

We set the generators up downwind on the far side of the trailer. We have one person that watches them for tripped breakers.

In winter, the roasters just run harder, and we wear lots of warm clothes. The coldest we have served was at 19 degrees, and it was a success. They really liked the HOT food that day. ROFLOL! We do coffee and hot chocolate, when it gets cooler; that sure is popular!
