When I was hunting for free stuff on the curbs last night, I found a sealed case of 24 cans of kitten food, expiring in 2020.

What a shame...

After my cat (raised since 8 weeks) died of cancer last June, I’ve been waiting until my Mom’s health got back on track after her accident to get a kitten. My apartment is too quiet without a pet, and dogs aren’t allowed. You also don’t have to walk cats at 5 AM.

Finding this food was a good sign from the universe, but what made it better was that it was just one street away from where I put my cat down.

Two signs from the universe, and my Mom is finally on her feet again.

My instant thought was to go drop the food off in front of the cat hospital at 4 AM, so I did just that. It wasn’t easy reliving the last memories of him there, but this is a good step forward.

RIP Spike, seen in one of his favorite spots, hanging out in a shipping box I needed to use, but didn’t have the heart to use.

awww Spike. It's good to see him. I can only imagine how much you miss him.

What you did is so incredibly thoughtful, especially considering that it meant going to back to a place that holds a lot of painful memories for you. I'm sure it was appreciated more than you even know by the people working there.

Thank you x a lot.
