My lucky day .... I see an ibis.

in featheredfriday •  6 years ago  (edited)

It is always random when I meet an ibis on my path. It is a delight. They are such interesting shaped birds with long rounded beaks. Full of grace and character.

I was on my way to post a letter and would you believe there was one standing right in front of me.

It sounds silly to get a little excited but I am not always able to take a photo, they are either flying over head, or I am riding or I don't have my iPhone in my pocket. The stars lined up, my lucky day.

It is a black and white photo to enhance the black and white colours of the ibis.

My apologies up front for not posting a more professional camera shot, it is still on my to buy list.

Cheers and blessings

I even envy you a little! He is so beautiful, wow

They are also very graceful when flying overhead, long and white , quite a sight when they are in a flock. Of course this when I don't get a photo.☹️

This would be good for the #bnwchallenge

Thank you, that is enough to follow.

They are such elegant birds. Who can resist a nicely curved beak :)

Haha, not me!

We have a saying that the best camera for the job is the one you have with you. :) I think it looked great!!

That is one of the nicest compliments for an iPhone camera enthusiast old-guy-photos. Thank you.

I agree; also, most people view post on their phones. Despite the image quality and bokeh that can be achieved with a dslr/mirrorless, it’s only going to be the photo enthusiast/pro will usually notice the difference. Subject and framing are more important than the camera used.

It certainly is a beauty!

Scored well didn't hi? Haha, thank goodness it happens now and then, boosts my ego.

Looks like he posed just for you!

Haha, he does bless his feathers.

Howdy angiemitchell! What an interesting bird. How big are those things and why do they have such a long, curved beak?

Hi janton, such good questions and I cannot answer the beak question at this stage. They are quite tall. They like to gather on some people's footpaths. Maybe they have the right food for them to eat. Not helpful am I? Haha.

haha! that's okay, I'm sure you'll learn more about them if they are around the neighborhood, they certainly are unique and very interesting!
