The white faced heron's swampy home is in jeopardy. (My feathered Friday contribution @melinda010100)

It has to be at least a year since the filling in of the 10 hectares of swampy land started. It is a very big job because there is a lot of water on this land that fronts on to the surf beach. While developers are wanting to make lots of money building a resort, houses, and caravan park it very sad for nature and the animals.

Everything in nature has a purpose if one really looks. I was reminded of that the other day when I saw the white faced heron busy standing in the swampy land looking for food like insects, frogs, anything that swims in the waters. Herons are commonly seen on this swampy land.

The heron is know for its shyness with people so once it heard my footsteps it flew to the safety of the mesh fence.

Here is the white heron's swampy home.

Not for very long I fear looking at the development already in action on land close by.

Sadly animals are always collateral damage with developments. I don't suppose these developers would consider leaving a bit of swamp land for the heron's food source? Probably not, it would mean a little less money. If only there was a happy medium.

Cheers and Blessings

Everything does have its place. We have lots of beautiful but huge grasshoppers here. Gardeners kill them left and right, but I just can't image. I have enough to share a bit :)

I tend to leave grasshoppers too. I am sure that they must have a role to play in the ecology of the environment.

Howdy angiemitchell! That's a shame to completely take all the swamp land but like you said, money reigns.

Thankfully there is still swampy land around that will never be built on, or maybe I can't be too sure of that, lol.

Yeah, when you think it can't be done then they figure out a way to do it for the money!

They do🤨, some humans like to stack it up. My money does not have time to stack up, lol.

haha! yeah my money is too busy being spent!

Nice shot of the heron Angie. I hate to see the swamp lands being developed.
Not a good spot to have a house anyway-leave it to the birds and other critters. 😊

I wouldn't buy a house that has been built in the swampy area either redheadpei, no matter how much soil the developers have piled and packed on. I reckon the heron can have it too.

Hi @angiemitchell It is always sad to hear about our wonderful birds and animals becoming misplaced in Australia. We have an amazing variety of wildlife here and they need protection.
