Day #3 My Gym Diary

in fitness •  7 years ago  (edited)

So yesterday was probably one of my least favourite days in the gym and that's Leg Day my legs are gradually getting stronger so I moved up to heavier weights and today I totally regret doing so. The pain I am experiencing in my glutes and legs is so extreme it is difficult to sit down but hey No Pain No Gain

It is normal to experience muscle pain after weight training or a new exercise it comes from the muscles tearing and repairing and lactic acid build up and it is evident up to 24 hours after training thats what I am experiencing now but don't worry it is normal to experience some sort of pain if you do a new exercise or upped the load of your training.

So down to the nitty gritty of my workout from the devil itself

Squats

The most important exercise for me in leg day is Squats and I dedicated a whole post to this exercise previously. I managed to up my weight on this exercise and still keep my form in check.

Incline Leg Press

This definitely explains the pain I have in my Glutes today this is a new exercise I have introduced this week to my training. When you perform a new exercise you tend to work out areas that may have not been used before so it is always important to mix it up. This exercise works your quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, adductors and even parts of the calf muscle so it is the perfect exercise for strengthening legs and it even helps strengthen and develop knee support, perfect for my popping crackly knees.

Lunges

These were a killer after the Leg Press. Using weights in each hand lunging up and down the gym for 3 sets you can also do it on the spot. This exercise helps sculpt and strengthen several muscle groups working the quadriceps, buttocks, hamstrings, calves and core.

Lying Leg Curls

This exercise directly targets the Hamstrings. We need a balance between the front and the back of our legs only working one side of a joint can create muscle imbalance not only can you visually see this but it can also lead to injury's thats why you must pay equal attention to both sides of the legs. This machine is perfect for doing just the thing.

I think leg day is pretty much everyone's least favorite day in the gym. I know it's definitely mine. But hey, it's gotta be done!

Thats true ;) It is mine too but after you feel great and it does get a little easier each week with the Pain

Well done and keep up the great work!

Thank you @scottish01 you too ... You're doing well :D

wow cool... good going friend!!! keep it up!!!

Thanks for the support :) I will keep trying!!

good job! Although I do not quite understand the need for splitting body parts. By doing one major body part in one day (legs, chest...) it makes it much more difficult to recover. Also you get stronger more easily by simply doing an exercise (e.g. squats) more often.

Thank you :) I think splitting weight training into specific categories (muscle groups) is actually a better way to recover it is also a better way for me personally to keep track of my progression and changing it each week helps strengthen and build muscle. I do know what you mean though but when you do the same workout each week then your muscle remembers this and in actual fact doesn't change unless you change the weights etc.

I am a big fan of squats though... Maybe not at the time but after I feel GREAT :D ;)

My favorite day! :p

Mine too even if it is the sorest day ;)

no way, leg day is the best! I could do without abs/core days though :D

no pain no gain <3 you are lovely <3

leg day is wholy pain day :D
