Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden

in food •  7 years ago

It's another awesome day in the Garden of Eden, and it's time for another awesome feast!

We're about halfway through our 3 week anti-candida diet, and we have another super plant power feast for 20+ people!

Today we had a fresh raw veggie salad, a cabbage soup, and a vegetable frittata with fresh herbs and garden salsa.

Our farm fresh eggs felt like a luxurious splurge given that we have been avoiding sugar, dairy, meat, most carbs and oils for a week and a half! Because we do all of our cooking over fire using rocket stoves we built by hand out of dirt, we have a nice method for steaming our frittatas.

We used chives, lemon balm, oregano, and thyme from the garden for some vibrant flavor and healing compounds. Oregano is highly antimicrobial, and lemon balm has antiviral as well as calming compounds! Herbs are a delicious way to boost the immune system and enhance the body's health.

We also made a classic vegetable soup with lots of cabbage, potatoes, carrots, yucca leftover from a meal earlier this week, and fresh rosemary from the garden. Clear broth soups are super hydrating, delicious, and full of nutrients!

We rounded out our meal with a bright salad of raw veggies with carrots, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and garlic served over wildcrafted lamb's quarter, a real super food!

Food is important and we hope to inspire people to really take  time  to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to  inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to  food. We want  to remind everyone to let food be your medicine too!

So that picture of all the dishes together at the top.... Like...i want that to be my portion size. Is that greedy? That cant be greedy. I would devour that in like....5 mins tops.

The picture at the top IS one person's serving :)

Thats what im talking about!

What are those read slices? Looks so yummy. I am sure all food lovers loves this food.

We have tomatoes on top of our frittata and salad, and in the first pick the frittata is also topped with salsa!! Super tomato yumminess abounds!

Now I am hungry again. It always amazes me how you pull it off to make such an amazing dishes for 20+ people. Well done! I'm sure it was all happy bellies around the campfire after.

Yes its quite a bit of work to prepare so much food, especially with all that goes into growing, harvesting, storing etc all the food!

Though food is important and thats why life in community is so great because people can get that food done while other people are doing other things. Then EVERYONE gets to enjoy the food.

Plus the happier and healthier people are the better the community runs!

Whats even more amazing is that you won't find more sustainable food that what we have here!

It's an amazing life in the Garden of Eden!

Frittatas with salsa, no less.

Mmmmmmmm Hmmmmmmmmm

Oh yes!!

Great post though missed seeing a picture of that Rocket Stove you mentioned!
IT sure has a lot of character!

Will be sure to include some shots of the rocket stoves in today's sustainable feast post :)

Great!

Excellent diet @gardenofeden, low-calorie food in the ratio of a large number of vitamins, I think will benefit the body will lose weight!

Thanks, @serkagan! While weight loss isn't the ultimate goal on our anti-candida cleanse, it's a nice side effect for some of us. Our real purpose in eating this way is to cut down levels of the fungus candida so it no longer steals our nutrition or causes unpleasant symptoms.

Exactly.....I don't have any weight to loose unless I want to loose more of my muscle!

looks so delicious!!

Super yummy and super healthy too!!

Fantastic! Did you notice smaller than normal yields this year?

With some crops we had lower yields than years past - our yellow tomatoes for example used to be super abundant, and this year we got just a bowl a day. Other things, like our figs, produced the best they ever have! Overall we still have waaay more food than any of us can eat, especially when we utilize the wildcrafted edible "weeds.

Im a bush boy, so sounds like my kind of place! Are you aware of the Grand solar minimum?

No, haven't heard of that.

Look into it. The coming changes will change agriculture as we now know it.

Such a beautiful initiative. A sustainable lifestyle is the only way we will keep living on this earth, it seems. <3 props.

Thank you, @jessandthesea! We're here to inspire everyone to live consciously and to make lifestyle choices with consideration for the best interest of humanity and our living planet <3

Look very delicious

Oh yes, delicious and filled with all kinds of health-promoting goodness!!

It looks delicious and healthy! I'm trying to eat healthier but sugar is present everywhere and I can't to rule myself. It is so bad :(

Sugar is so common in almost every single processed food!! It's one of the tricks of the food science industry to get consumers to 1) eat more and 2) think dead, packaged, refined foods are delicious - especially if they took out the fat! Further, there are modern studies that say sugar is 8 times more addictive than cocaine. AND it feeds candida!

It is difficult to avoid in processed foods, but it's just one more reason to switch to a whole food diet - which doesn't have to be a challenge. It can be a great joy if you choose to celebrate the real investment you're making in health!

I'm addicted :( But I'm stronger and will overcome it :D

wow soo yummy and healthy

Another beautiful, nutritious, sustainable feast!!

Happy Eid al-Adha...sorry to comment with a link...just wanna greet All moslem steemit friend on this blessing day. https://steemit.com/life/@siagamz/happy-eid-al-adha-to-all-my-muslim-steemit-friends-201791t61435370z

Eid Mubarak! Do you still bless us even though we are not Muslim??

yes I do..every body blessed by their own way

This soup looks like a soup that in Russian is called "Shi" ( not sure if it's Russian soup) :D Still wondering how do you fight your will to eat meat? :

yes, cabbage soup is a Russian soup

Oh, thank you :3 I didn't know how it was called on English ;)

Haven't heard about that Russian soup before! This one is a basic veggie soup with all kinds of garden goodness boiled together with herbs.

Nobody here really seems to care too much about meat. We only have a few people who are "officially" vegetarian/vegan, but even the carnivores are fine with either having it or not having it - we're just not that attached to it.

Wow! You're making me hungry. Yeah.... cos health is wealth!
I wonder what it tastes like... hmmmmmm....

Regards,
Mike
