Cast Iron NY Strip Sirloin with Green Beans and Ham.

If you like Steak, and have not tried making one on a cast iron skillet, you are missing out on a great treat. I paired this NY Sirloin Strip with some Green Beans cooked in water with a ham chop to rend the salty briny flavor into the beans.

Ingredients:
1 NY Strip Sirloin or your preferred cut of meat.
3 cups of fresh string beans
1 tbsp of all natural butter
2 cloves of garlic
1 ham pork chop with bone

Cut the ham into small cubes and separate the bone and put it into the boiling water with the beans. Cook for 7-10 minutes or until desired tenderness.

Put the butter in a cast iron skillet on high heat then put your steaks in and cook until desired doneness.

After removing the Steaks from the Skillet add your green beans and ham into the skillet to deglaze the flavor of the butter, garlic, and steak from the pan and transfer into the beans.

Serve your Steak whole or cut it across the grain and serve like I did here.

Hahaha, nothing wrong with a good BLT. :P Enjoy

This looks really delicious. Definitely best cooked with butter. You might add a little oil to the butter next time. It stops the butter burning quite so quickly. Butter burns at a much lower temperature. X

lol part of the reason why I use the butter is because of the fast burning in order to seal and caramelize the outside of the steak on the cast iron. But yeah I know it burns very fast :)

Yes, cast iron cooking is the Best! My grandmother used to use the cast iron skillets and cured them a special way to create the most wonderful tasting dishes. Yumm!

Absolutely, I also cure my Woks and Stainless Steel Pans to be Non Stick. I do not cook with anything with Teflon or non stick coating ever. They are too fragile and also give off toxins into the food.

Looks delicious. This would fit in good with my low carb diet.
