Born out of necessity
Today we continue with a delicious homemade meal.
It is a real classic of Italian cuisine.
Spaghetti carbonara first appeared towards the end of the Second World War.
At that time, there was a food shortage in Rome.
There are different ways of preparing it and I'll show you a very simple one.
For 3-4 people you need 200 ml cream, 200 g ham, 1 egg, salt and pepper, 50 g Parmesan cheese and 350 g spaghetti.
Cut the ham into cubes, fry briefly and deglaze with the cream.
Cover with a lid and cook for 10 minutes.
Then remove the pan from the heat, stir in the beaten egg and let the whole thing cook again over a very low heat.
Now add a little salt and pepper and 50 g of Parmesan cheese.
That's it.
Serve with a side salad such as spinach leaves, small hot peppers, radishes with an oil-garlic vinegrette.
