Besides pempek and tekwan, Palembang has a typical cracker that is suitable for souvenirs. His name is kemplang.

Kemplang is a crispy fish-based fish cracker.

Kemplang is very delicious as a snack and complementary dish to eat rice and other side dishes.

There are seven kemplang with different shapes. You can choose processed kemplang to be used as a typical souvenir of Palembang.

Grilled Kemplang

In Palembang, baked kemplang is called kemplang tunu.

Roasted Kemplang is made from mackerel or cork fish and is processed by roasting using charcoal.

Grilled Kemplang is crispy, round and flat in shape around an adult's palm.

Usually baked kemplang is sold in packs and accompanied by spicy chili sauce.

Kemplang Mini

Kemplang mini is a smaller version of baked kemplang.

Just like baked kemplang, mini kemplang is also made from mackerel or cork fish.

Because of its miniature size, this kemplang is easily eaten in one bite. The flavor is savory and the texture is crunchy.

Kemplang Kancing

Nicknamed the kemplang button because of its round and small shape like buttons.

Kemplang studs can be made from cork fish, mackerel, or beledang fish. This Kemplang is usually sold in packages with still raw shapes.

To eat it, just keep the button fried in hot oil until cooked. Next, the kempang is drained and ready to be served.

Curly Kemplang

In Palembang, besides being called kemplang kingklang, kemplang is also called kemplang mawar and kemplang sanggul.

This Kemplang is made with a special machine with small holes that drain the kemplang dough which is still liquid so that the kemplang is curly.

Kemplang curly is made from mackerel fish. The taste is savory and the texture is crunchy.

Kemplang Ring

Just like curly kemplang, kemplang rings are also made using mold. The difference is, the mold used to make this kemplang is in the form of a ring.

Once printed, the ring is then baked until cooked.

Kemplang is made from mackerel fish and is usually sold in packs accompanied by spicy chili sauce.

Getas

Getas is a round kemplang. The texture is solid and tastes savory.

The raw material for getting ginger is the same as Pempek, which is mackerel, salt and starch.

To make brittle, the dough is cut into pieces about 4 cm in size and processed by baking.

Pilus

Palembang's typical Pilus has two types, namely oval and small round. The texture is crunchy and tastes savory.

Pilus is made from mackerel fish. This crispy snack is processed by baking and commonly used as snacks.

The average price of kemplang starts from IDR 20 thousand to IDR 50 thousands per kg, depending on raw material. Generally, kemplang based on mackerel fish is cheaper than cork fish.
