Vegan travel guide - Thailand (Koh Phangang) - Where to eat?

in food •  7 years ago

Hey guys,

So I did write a post about a restaurant I've been visiting frequently but I thought that I should write you a more general post about where you can find the best vegan food.

I've been enjoying my stay here so much and I'm so sad to leave in 4 days. But I will definelty come back to stay for a longer time.
Koh Phangan is a paradise for vegans with a lot of different options. You can eat on a low budget or your can eat on a middle budget.
In my opinion there is not a lot of expensive places and you hardly never pay more than 250 bath = 6,6 euros for a meal. If you go crazy with apetizer, main course and desert you will land on around 600 bath for a meal and that is around 16 euros.
Here everything is clearly marked out as vegan, raw and so on. If you go to a non vegan restaurant they often have vegan options or can make dishes vegan.

So without further delay here is my best vegan places if you decide to stay in Koh Phangan

The most vegan restaurants is north west of the Island and this is where I am staying.

Eat co

This place have become my favourite restaurant to eat breakfast on. Their breakfast toast is to die for.
Eat co is a 4 ears old restaurant with a very relaxed atmostphere,
You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner here. As well as some delicious sweets.
There is plenty of seats and you can choose if you want to eat outside or inside. Sit on the floor or on chairs. I always like it better to sit on the floor so that is my go to option.
The staff is also so friendly and helpfull.

Price range:

This is one of the little more expensive options but still quite affordable.
Prices range from around 140 up to over 200 bath for a main course.

Make sure to try their beetroot burger, and don't forget the chocolate freakshake ;)

Hours

Eat co is open from 9 am to 10 pm every day of the week except on Thursdays that is their day off.

Location

Eat co is located on the main road of Sri Thanu Village.

Karma Café

This place is so cozy with super friendly staff that always greet you with a smile.
In this place just as Eat co you find a mixture of seating on the ground and on normal tabels.
I suggest you find yourself a seat on some of the cozy madresses that is placed on the ground or maybe in one of the bean bags =). It's not uncommon to see happy, sleepy guests rest laying down on in a dreamy food coma to digest the delicious meal they just had.
The atmosphere is so relaxed and you can't be anything but happy when you come here.
The staff will always help you to find the best option for you and their English is better than most of the thai people.

Price range:

Just as Eat co this is one of the little more expensive but still affordable places to go.
Prices range from around 140 to around 200 bath depending on what kind of meal you want.

One of my favourite meals was this beetroot bowl with grilled beetroot home made ketchup and lots of veggies and a peacy drink with soda water

Hours

Location

Located on the main road at 20/18 Moo 8, Srithanu

Orion Healing Center

This place have the best vibes you can find. E
Have a comfortable seating in one of their open sheltered seats by the sea. Find a place in one of the hammocks or just sit back with a wonderful view closer to the restaurants.
This place is full of digital nomads working on their computer and eating a delicious nourishing meal.
Orion have a separate detox menu that is great when you want to eat clean and nourish your body.
The food is really clean, mainly raw and without added sugar. A heaven for the health aware.

This place also have a lot of treatments, yoga classes and a lot of different ceremonies you can attend.
Some have fixed prices and some are depended on donations.
