Free Radicals in Body

Free radicals are produced in the body and are by-products of normal metabolism, as well as radiation and certain environmental pollutants. Because of their high reactivity, they can destroy cell components and participate in various diseases.

Free radicals are usually neutralized by effective systems in the body, including antioxidant enzymes (catalase, glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase) and small molecule antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin E, Glutathione, carotene, Flavonoids, Taurine and Gout).

Antioxidant

Substances such as vitamin E and C can remove potentially harmful oxidants in the body.

Antioxidants and Skin Health Benefits

When we face direct sunlight, it can start the production of active oxygen compounds like peroxide radicals, superoxide radicals and singlet oxygen by the action of photo-oxidative and ultra-violet rays. Many antioxidants can be used to protect skin. But Astaxanthin with beta-carotene combined with vitamin E, is found to be the strongest skin-protecting antioxidants.

Antioxidants and Immune System Support

Free radicals can be produced by singlet oxygen that can cause serious health problems. Antioxidants like spirulina and astaxanthin can control, minimize and even retard the health disorders by activating the immune system to protect cellular DNA and cell membranes.

Some Other Benefits of Antioxidants

There are many benefits of antioxidants that can never be explained in an article. So, I share more. Increasing antioxidant intake is critical to optimal health, especially in today's contaminated world. Since the body cannot keep up with the production of antioxidants, it must absorb large amounts of vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and enzymes from the daily diet. Increasing your antioxidant intake can help provide extra protection for your body:

  • Eye Issues

  • Memory Problems

  • Heart Issues

  • Hypertension

  • Immune system problems

Antioxidants in Food

It is important to keep the balance between antioxidants and oxidants in your body to keep you healthy. However, free radicals or oxidants are usually more of the antioxidants that are naturally produced in the body. It is important therefore to provide antioxidants from other sources to the body for maintaining the balance between antioxidants and free radicals. Ingesting the antioxidants from food is the best source to introduce antioxidants to the body with high quality. I am describing some foods that are rich in antioxidants. Everyone should include these foods in their diet for proper intake of food:

Dark Chocolate

Cocoa powder and Dark chocolate are rich in polyphenols and flavonoids. A popular study conducted by Harvard experts published in an online magazine shows that it is particularly beneficial to your heart.

Kidney Beans

All types of nuts, red beans, pinto beans and black beans are sources of high octane antioxidants. Beans are also rich in protein-stimulating muscles, lowers cholesterol and fat.

Raisins

If you want to load antioxidants, few raisins. Blackcurrant packed with anthocyanins can increase energy.

Barley

The use of barley is an old project which is once again popular and there are good reasons for it. Barley is known for its powerful antioxidant properties, making you stronger from the inside out.

Broccoli

Recently, this simple vegetable has produced a lot of noise due to its anti-cancer antioxidants. Among all cruciferous vegetables, broccoli is one of the best sources of antioxidants, such as beta-carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin and carotenoids.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes contain three types of antioxidants: vitamin A, vitamin C and lycopene (which produces bright red tomatoes). Vitamin C is one of the most powerful antioxidants that can be found in fruits and vegetables.

Walnuts

Most beans are very healthy. Experts suggest that you should have at least a few or 30 grams of beans daily. Nuts are cholesterol-free, low in sodium and contain antioxidants. They provide a lot of antioxidants as polyphenols.
