Times Are Changing: Take a Chance (Article)

There comes a time in life when you must take a leap of faith.

We live in a time of immense uncertainty. While we collectively confront the fact that both our planet’s ecology and our society’s institutions teeter on the brink of collapse—it is becoming more and more apparent that things need to change.

For those who are savvy, it is perhaps not hard to recognize that if we are to resolve the challenges before us, some fundamental shifts must be made. While things such as personal development, mindful living, and policy change are essential for the creation of a healthy culture, they are surely not sufficient.

Those of us who are working to make the world a better place often find that we don’t live in a world that supports such high-minded endeavors. There are countless forces and institutions which prevent effective action.

We live in a society that is governed almost exclusively by a hierarchy. People in high places have abundant access to resources and live with greater freedom while those who live closer to the Earth find themselves struggling just to get by.

At a time in which stewardship of the Earth is more important than ever; this is not viable. The times call for a new arrangement. Hierarchy does not facilitate the solutions we need but inhibits them. What we need is an entirely new kind of social organism.

We’re coming to an understanding: that hierarchy was always imposed anyways; that the pure form of nature is when all parts work for the betterment of the whole.

In a thriving forest, the squirrels don’t exploit the trees. Rather, they live in relationship with one another in which both are supported by their interaction.

If we are going to right the course of our proverbial ship, we must learn to live like that: in a way based on the value of equality and mutual support.

Never before have humans been able to live in such a way on such a massive scale—and yet we must. This is perhaps the only way that we can create a society wherein everyone can thrive.

The newness of this venture means that we can’t predict its form. We don’t know precisely how to create a large-scale egalitarian society. It has never successfully been done before. Previous attempts have led to utter failure.

And yet it is our duty to try. The fate of future generations rests in our hands. The only way to create a future which honors our descendants is to right the wrongs of our past and create a new way of life today. For the sake of our children and grandchildren, we must create something new.

That is what the Earth Nation is working to do.

The Earth Nation recognizes the need for a new social form. It also knows that new technologies facilitate a type of shift that was never possible before.

The internet revolutionized information and communication. Before the internet; knowledge and information were concentrated to a small portion of humanity. Now information is accessible to us all. This has changed culture forever; liberating people from domination and placing the power of understanding back to the people. This was only the beginning.

Now that information is everywhere; humans can make informed choices wherever they are. For perhaps the first time, real democracy is possible.

The Earth Nation leverages the technology of the blockchain (the same technology of the now famous Bitcoin) to create a new kind of organization in which decisions are not made by the few, but distributed equally throughout the network.

Through a new form of currency and democratic decision-making processes, the Earth Nation is creating an ever-expanding network of mutually beneficial relationships. Here, people who are committed to regenerative communities, healing the planet, and awakening humankind can find themselves supported by a collective of like-minded people.
