Garbage -5minutefreewrite

It's a beautiful thing, garbage. I find my favorite foods there. I found fancy vegan nachos at the street fair, that I think the purchaser only ate a single mouthful of, but that were delicious and pristine and free! I ate cheetos and twix that were still in their sealed containers. WHO DOES THAT? I mean, granted, the Twix were melty, but I put them in the freezer, and then it was just chocolate wafer goodness.

A pile of garbage is full of potential. But I regret it. I regret that we live in a society that produces excess. Because I have too much good stuff. I wish I could put all this stuff that I don't need in a time machine and send it back to pioneers struggling on the prairie. I want to send them my old jeans that aren't worth fixing for me because I keep finding new jeans in the garbage, but that could easily be mended. I wish I could send dozens of books that I don't actually want to read, because there are too many books I do want to read, but these are BAD books, I'm sure someone would enjoy reading them if they weren't overwhelmed by all the things there are to do.

I wish I could just tell dvd manufacturers to never have made dvds, and just put everything online, please. It is ridiculous that we have physical media.

And gosh, I wish I didn't have so many pieces of paper with pictures of presidents on them. I mean, one of each is enough, but people keep giving me more.

No, what I really wish, bits aside, is that no one would ever buy us THINGS. If you want to give us presents, give us money that we can put into cryptocurrency, so that someday we can buy a house. What am I going to do with all these gift cards? We don't need things! That's what the trash is for!
