When I was a teen, I visited my big sister while she and her boyfriend were living in a different city all by myself. While I was there, Ca (her then boyfriend, now life partner) thought it would be funny to get me a magnet ring to shock my folks with.

It worked. It totally worked. I started with it on my ear, I think. And my dad was just quiet. Really quiet. Poor guy. He's not super judgey or anything, but I think the idea that I would make such a decision without carefully considering all the possible ramifications, and really taking time with it was deeply cutting. Then, a few minutes later, not being able to bear my dad's misery, I moved it to my nose, and hoped he would notice very quickly. Luckily, he did. I probably said something I thought would be subtle but still draw attention to it. I was probably wrong about it being subtle, but nonetheless.

Anywhoodles. It was a yin yang sign. I remember thinking about how cool philosophy was. I remember thinking about thinking. I'm not sure if I have lost that. But I recognize that most times I feel like the philosophers aren't really saying things that dig very dee

I really empathise, I can't bear to see their faces with a heavy joke for long.. I did it all the times with university exams, telling them that I failed poorly :-P

Our poor earnest papas.

your poor Dad! LOLL

Blame my brother in-law.

Lol! it's hard to be a father and don't lose nerve, I never would be in my dad's shoes!

I definitely learned some anguish from him.

My Dad didn't say a whole lot, but when he did you had better listen. I never played any practical jokes on him, that is probably why I still have two ears today! 😉

Glad you survived!

Ha... my daughter did something similar to my husband. I think he was similar to your dad. This is a great story! I like it when we can share our memories through the freewrites!

How did he react when he noticed that it wasn't real?

With great relief. And explanations of how permanently altering your body is something you can never take back.

I can see it as if I were there lol

Did you see one of your humans is calling you Our Lady? I like it. Very LARP-ish in all the funnest ways.
