Why, Is there any issue?

The most important reason is that running three servers to get a few pennies in steem a month is not sustainable. Plus, I got someone who ~~pre~~ninja-mined a ton of steem and the CEO of steemit (via @spaminator) flagging @proboards even though I'm doing EXACTLY what the blockchain permits us to do. I even made sure my account had sufficient resource credits to start archiving data on the blockchain.

Defending myself from flags already takes up too much of my time, and bigger whales give zero fucks of the good deeds I do on here. So, I'm not going to spread myself thin anymore ... I actually want to have MORE STEEM by the end of year, not less ...

From the exchange below it would seem that flags come from berniesanders. You do know that the CEO of Steemit Inc. is Ned Scott, and he is not the same person as whoever controls the berniesanders and associated accounts (thecyclist, nextgencrypto, ngc, iflagshit, etc.), don't you ?

Anyway, I would be very happy if some of the people approving your witness would use their freed slot to approve @lux-witness, the witness run by myself (@sorin.cristescu ) and @pstaiano.

"Shame" is related to a moral system and these are mostly subjective. You might very well feel shame asking for an approval which has become available. I see no reason to be ashamed. If anything, I believe I'm doing far more for this blockchain than you, yet our witness mints a lot less blocks and doesn't have enough MV to even cover costs...

Depends on what people look at. The activity is pretty correlated to crypto price but EOS seems to be doing okay.

I don't think people care about spam nearly as much as shitposting or overall attitude towards others but I am just one person.

You have the bird's-eye view. I'm just a person in the trenches not calling grandmothers cunts (edit I actually believed you called her granddaughter a cunt, right?) ;) (would you say that helps or hurts?)

*edit: it was a semi-serious question and not one I expected a response from someone as obviously busy as yourself.

I achieved my goal with that comment. If you don’t see that, I’m not sure what to tell you.

Driving away people who NEVER buy steem and simply post and dump seems like a good strategy to me. I generally do not bother those who have purchased a decent amount of Steem, feel free to DYOR on that one.

Buy with what? They already lost 97% of their money on Steem. Isn't the promise of Steem that you can contribute and earn? (Promise maybe, definitely not reality.)

At this point, I respect anyone who participates (except for spam and the like). But I think investing hard-earned money into it is malinvestment for most people.

That is a shameful lie and no one needs to go far to see that, since you down voted my comment (i.e. you bothered me) a few lines above. As someone who DHOR you can easily calculate that I have bought several tens of thousands of euros worth of STEEM. Of course you can claim that that is not "decent enough". Or that you qualified your statement with "generally". I don't quite see how that is not a shame, but in the end who cares ?

Well this is indeed sad news. I hope you will reconsider. I voted for you and encouraged all my friends to do the same. I think the SOG would have done more promoting, if we felt you were near this decision. I really believed you would eventually keep rising over time as I believe you do have a good heart for the people here and the chain.

As I don't know any specific details about this, except for the things you've decided to share, I'm curious to know a few things.

You said that you generated about 1 Steem per 2 hours. That's about 12 Steem per 24 hours, which would be approximately 360 Steem per month.

(12x30).

That's what you've been able to get as a witness ranked 59-60.
I know it's expensive to run witness servers, but how expensive is it?

I mean, top 20 witnesses earns about $2200 per month... Which would be approximately ~8150 Steem per month? - As long as the $2200 is USD.

I do understand that some people might have less costs than others and whatever, but to someone who doesn't have any real knowledge or insight in these scenarios at all, it really looks like it's literally impossible to make any form of profit as long as you're not in the top 30 ish. And when you're in the top 20, you can just laugh all the way to the bank...

Servers costs from $50 to $100.

I don't understand top 60 witnesses complaining about earnings. I understand that they don't make much money after server payment, but some of us are at ~150-200 STEEM loss per month. And I'm happy that I generate 2-3 blocks per day. Some witnesses get even much less blocks (few blocks per week). This is almost 100% loss.

Understandable. End of year, time to see what has worked, what has not, time to reflect on where we are and where we want to go. Hug your wife, make a child laugh, time goes by and the strife dies back. When it is time to try again it will be time to try again. I know launching your witness campaign involved a lot of inner searching on your part as to whether this was something you really wanted at the time. Perhaps next go around it will be different.

I still appreciate how you try to keep the freedom of steemit blogging free from the constraints of those Do as I say, not as I do" type people.

Upvoted to show solidarity, I'm sad to hear this because you are popular throughout the entire Steem ecosystem of active posting users, and climbed to a very high rank in a short time because the community believes in you.

Throughout my journey on the Steem blockchain you are one of a handful of people that has made a real impact on my own belief in the concept and potential, my Witness votes are always full and I have a list of names I would like to support - but will always make a slot for you Witness if you reactivate in future.

I still feel confident that this blockchain will achieve it's full potential, there are so many active hard working minds on here - most of us might not have a great deal of stake - but only a few tiny sparks are needed to keep a fire burning and see it burn bright once again.

Lol, what kind of server do you have? 512 GB of RAM?
Servers at Hetzner are 38€ + tax (48€ total in Slovenia).

You got 366.81 SP in last month.

I get ~60 SP per month and I'm happy that I'm not one of those witnesses that get only few blocks per week. So your earnings were not so bad!

As it stands now, he has $90,000 worth of Steem power invested. Assuming he is/could get a straight job (which seems rather likely), it would be easier and less time consuming to come up with an extra $25 in a month using overtime pay than the amount of time it would take to setup a Steem node. It's no different if he gets it from rewards or from trading it is still 100 Steem.

Because I've been saying for over 2 years that THIS blockchain should have some sort of private messaging feature. Partiko's feature is fine... just not what I figured 2 years would bring us. It was more of a poke at FTG for fun. He needs cheering up... we all need cheering up.

We have private messaging in the form of memo. Each message is 0.001 STEEM which you get back when the other end answers you.

The problem is that no good interface has been built on top of this.

Partiko messaging is not bad, it is just centralized on the Partiko server.

When and if the steem value rebounds to where it’s profitable to be a witness let us know in a post so we can vote for you again. You are by far, one of the most generous people on the blockchain with your VP and I think when the time comes many steemians will re-reward you with a witness vote because of it.
