Allonian Seed - The great outdoors

With 16 days left in the campaign to raise funds for my game development course and STEEM integrated game Allonian Seed things have gone into over drive! As I have been in a state of almost constant movement, save the few days I was laid out due to back injury, the game should be playable within a month of funding. Granted who knows when it will be ready if not.

Game News

If you have missed the last few posts I have been hard at work getting various areas of the games hashed out. Most notably the overall look of the game which lends it self to the more cartoon shaded styles found in games like Border Lands and others. I've very much enjoyed the challenge of getting the freestyle look that is presented in the image above and provided by Blender to its equivalent in Godot. Thankfully Godot already had a feature that enabled a similar style though it still requires a bit of programming to get the desired results.

The space man is from another game in the works called Wayfinder- I'm using him to get proper scaling of other assets as his height is just shy of 6 ft

As you can see from the picture above I've started working on some of the outside areas in the game. The image isn't all that impressive but the goal is to automate most of the flora. This will of course save me time as well as giving it a much more organic feel to the process. The images below shows a much better view of the courtyard with the generated trees and the border inking.

Please note that the trees don't yet have inking on them. I have tried to add the code to the game which will allow it, but the cost saving technique doesn't seem to work well with the current implementation.

Educational Services

Along with the game the funding goes toward a educational program that I hope will diminish, in a small way, the tech desert that exists in my area. With courses on Game Development, 3D design and printing, along with various other courses. My goal is that it will encourage people to become makers instead of just consumers by guiding them through the entire process.

The courses will also demand a portfolio to be made by the students highlighting their work. Its my intent to use STEEM for that purpose. I will also encourage the students to consider using blockchain technologies whenever there is a need for it. For those interested here is the link to the educational program overview
