Allonian Seed - scanning and possible need for rework.

Visual Update

While playing the game you will need to collect a much information about the world as possible. This is done through switching from third person (over the shoulder) to first person views. In first person mode the world is a much different place. As seen in the shots below.

When in first person mode you will get a visual queue when something can be scanned and recorded by the bot. Currently the center part of the eye is your primary guide, but we hope to add a highlighting effect to the scanned object soon.

the center most part of the eye becomes visible and spins in the presence of a new item.

Unfortunate Setback

Here is the interface for newly scanned items. It will, when finished, show information about the thing scanned. Unfortunately, due to the way the interface is created it reacts with the light in the scene. This is less than ideal. I believe there is a way around it but at the present moment I am contemplating rebuilding the interface to better merge the 2D and 3D. It should only set me back a few days. Still, I haven't that much time before I want to share a demo with my backers and I want it to really shine.

You can make it so objects do not react to light in the scene by setting the "unshaded" flag in the SpatialMaterial. Also it's great to see projects made in Godot on here! Allonian seed is looking really cool!!

I tried the "unshaded" option, it washed out the panel. However, the issue gave me a chance to play with viewports more in depth and now I have a better workflow setup.

Thanks, its been fun making it so far. though its become a much larger project than I had intended.
