How to block ads on Twitch for freesteemCreated with Sketch.

It's well-known that you can use things like AdblockPlus to block ads on many websites including the very popular site Youtube. One website in particular that you usually can't block ads on with ad blockers is Twitch. The popular streaming site seemingly doesn't care whether you have an ad blocker installed or not and will show you ads regardless of whether or not you have one installed. With many things dealing with technology, there's a very simple work around that is not only quick and easy, but very beginner friendly. You don't even need to be tech savvy to do this. What I'm going to show you will not only block ads but also give you access to various other tools that Twitch doesn't normally give you. Before we get into it, an important note...

I don't really feel bad for blocking ads from bigger streamers as they often make hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars, a year from ads, sponsorships, and donations that they receive on Twitch. Since the method that I'm going to show you can easily be turned off or on with a single click, PLEASE support smaller streamers by turning this off when you're watching them because they tend to show either no ads or very few ads during their streams. One great way to support them is not only by watching whatever ads that they show on their streams (instead of blocking them), but also by donating to them. If you can't afford to do that, a simple positive message in their stream can make them feel a lot better, especially if they're having a bad day/stream.

TL;DR Support smaller streamers... please :)

With that being said, let me introduce you to the Alternative Player for Twitch.tv which can be found as a Chrome extension here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/alternate-player-for-twit/bhplkbgoehhhddaoolmakpocnenplmhf?hl=en

This add-on can be added with the single click of a button and once you add it, you can simply enable or disable it by right-clicking or left-clicking the icon for it from Twitch itself in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. There's many features to it that I won't list here as the extension page lists all of the features on it. I don't remember ever seeing an ad on Twitch while using this, but as I mentioned previously, support smaller streamers. If you want to support your favorite larger streamers, donating is a great way to do that if you decide to block ads on their streams.

Thank you.
