“Good things come to those who wait” – Blizzard addresses Diablo 4 rumours

in gaming •  6 years ago

Blizzard has released a new blog post in the hopes of diffusing fan hype around Diablo 4, with rumours of a new game in the franchise circulating since last month’s schedule release for their annual event, BlizzCon. With many fans expecting the reveal of a brand new game, the post has left some Diablo diehards disappointed.

In the post, Blizzard subtly tells fans that 2018 will not be the year for Diablo 4 but that their teams are working hard to present some new Diablo projects at this year’s BlizzCon.

“We know what many of you are hoping for and we can only say that ‘good things come to those who wait’, but evil things often take longer.

“While we won’t be ready to announce all our projects, we do intend to share some Diablo-related news with you at the show,” said Blizzard.

After this announcement, fans on Twitter were noticeably disappointed.

However, there were fans who also understood what Blizzard was trying to achieve with the post.

The Diablo franchise has had several iterations over the years, with the first game releasing in 1996. Diablo 2 followed in 2000 and Diablo 3 was released 12 years later in 2012. With a 12 year gap between the second and third Diablo installment, fans might have to wait a bit longer for the fourth game in the franchise.

However, It seems like Blizzard is not ready to retire Diablo 3 just yet with a new port of the game coming to the Nintendo Switch on November 2, coinciding with the first day of BlizzCon.

The Eternal Collection contains the Diablo 3 base game as well as the Reaper of Souls expansion and the Necromancer pack.

For Diablo fans that do not have a Nintendo Switch or want to own a second or third console, Blizzard and Nintendo have also just released a Diablo-themed Switch bundle.

Despite Blizzard hinting that there will be no Diablo 4 announcement this year, fans can still rejoice with this new Switch version of the game. They will soon have the chance to explore the world of Sanctuary as the Legend of Zelda’s Ganondorf with a faithful Cucco companion.
