Metroid Prime 4 had just received a brand new announcement by none other than Shinya Takahashi. This beloved franchise had been announced at E3 2017 but little was shown about the new title.
Takahashi pulled off the 'good news, bad news' gimmick as there had been little to no word about the title in 2018. He stated that during development in 2018, it did not reach the standards they wanted for the franchise. As a result, they made a decision to redo the whole development, but this time with collaboration from a studio that worked on the original Metroid Prime, Retro Studios.
This may be a bit of a disappointment, but Takahashi expressed that they believed that the quality of the game takes precedence of simply meeting a deadline. The decision was made with that in mind as they believed the direction it was heading was simply not good enough.
With all that in mind, there is barely any other information on the subject of Metroid Prime 4. Despite the setback, Nintendo and Retro Studios are planning to make sure that the game reaches a quality everyone will be happy with.
In terms of speculation, there may be a couple of announcements throughout the year though for E3 might be a bit of a stretch, but we can be sure to see a trailer or two if the two studios kick up the turbo gear for the game. With the franchise now in full production, all we can do is simply wait to see what they will do with the franchise. With Retro Studios now part of the crew, we can expect some tried and true mechanics, however, with the years that passed by, there might also be some new unexpected things popping in the game.
Despite the disappointment, are you cool with Nintendo effectively restarting development in favour of the quality of the game?
