Street Fighter V has had a bumpy ride through it’s short lifetime - and the bad news keeps coming. With the new Version 4.021, all controllers and arcade sticks that utilize DirectInput will no longer work for Steam/PC users, requiring you to re-calibrate through other methods.
The official statement goes as follows:
The Ver. 4.021 update (for Street Fighter V on Steam/PC) slated for release on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 implements design changes to improve operation stability for DirectInput USB controllers used with the Steam version of the game. If your controller (primarily PlayStation®4 controllers, arcade sticks, etc.) employs DirectInput, launching STREET FIGHTER V after applying the above update will result in the loss of controller functionality.

But fear not, If you play Street Fighter V with an Xbox One controller with Xinput, this update shouldn’t effect you. As for any other controllers, you can get around it by using DS4Windows or the official settings through Steam- It may take a bit to re-configure everything, but at least your preferred controller isn’t unusable. Though the road for this game and it's release has been rocky, at least you're not thrown into the deep end, especially if you use a high quality arcade stick that would have been disabled- I'm glad that they have methods for you to continue using them, even if it is a bit asinine.

Either way you look at it, Street Fighter V continues the legacy of the Street Fighter franchise and no matter the issues, it's still a stepping stone in the history that will only improve further release launches. I personally still prefer Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, but having this game in your collection is nothing to scoff out and is fun for the occasional pick up and play game at parties and functions. Keep in mind, this controller support removal is only in the Steam/PC version of the game, so if you play on consoles, using your normal methods will of course still be functional.
