Amanita Design has surprised us in recent years with beautifully drawn puzzle games with endearing characters. Think of the robot from Machinarium, the plant weeds from Botanical and of course the doll from Samarost. Now we can add Chuchel to that.

Chuchel is a kind of scoop of dust with a hat. He has a single goal: to eat a tasty cherry at all costs. However, that cherry is always just out of reach. Not only because a hand is removed from above the fruit, but also because a small annoying creature Chuchel is regularly too fast.

The idea of the game is that you end up in strange situations in a row where you can not catch the cherry. For example, because the fruit is in a cage, someone has stopped in his mouth or because the cherry is behind a monster that you do not let pass. To achieve your goal you simply try everything out. You click on every object and being until you bump into the solution.

Smile

Amanita has done his utmost best on the design, because the game looks incredibly fun. The cheerful style, the nice sounds and also the animations put a smile on your face from start to finish. This smile does not disappear for a moment. The game never makes it difficult for you and with that Chuchel is therefore quite different from the previous games of the developer.

Amanita is not only known for the design of their games because of the sometimes difficult puzzles. Although Chuchel also consists of a lot of small puzzles, they are never difficult. The idea is that you click on all options once and see what happens next. Think of it as an interactive cartoon for the whole family. The result is always hilarious, so you continue to play to see what happens again.

Chuchel is a game that is full of humor and you do not see that often. In addition, the character Chuchel is an insane little boy with countless facial expressions and hilarious sounds, that while his body takes on all sorts of forms, the same endearing hope of dust always remains. We hope to see him again in the future.

May be a little more difficult

It is a bit of a shame that the game is not more difficult. Now you cycle right through it and after a few hours you have reached the end. We did not mind being able to do our best to finally get the reward in the form of a new comical moment. The world has just been so much fun that we would have liked to play a bit longer.

However, the game does not have unnecessary padding and is accessible to a large audience. For example for young players who can click on some things on the screen in this way to whine about the consequences. Chuchel is something that appeals to young and old, is original and makes you laugh. Then no brainteasers once.

Chuchel is available for PC and Mac. In the second quarter of 2018, the game also comes out for iOS and Android.

Conclusion

Chuchel is very simple and we are not used to Amanita Design. Yet we enjoyed again. The game is bursting with humor and clever design work, so we have played with a smile from start to finish. Main character Chuchel has conquered a permanent place in our hearts in those few hours.

➕ Design, humor, originality
