You're welcome! You reminded me of another concert I attended.
I drove for Domino's pizza, and met my wife there (although we didn't get together for decades afterwards!). One night I was coming home, listening to WBCN (104.1 in Boston, now defunct), and they were doing some giveaway, as I was parking. So I came inside and called, and I was the correct caller!
The guy said, "You're caller number [whatever], do you know what you won?" I started to respond, saying, "No, I don't remember when the date was, but it was [band name]" -- and, he hung up after I said "No, I don't"!
So I called them back, and talked to Larry "Chachi" Loprett, the "Vice President in charge of giving things away", who said those tickets were all gone, but I could have two tickets to anything I wanted.
So, I said Jethro Tull, which was having their 25th anniversary tour. Still have the t-shirt! :)
I took my girlfriend's friend's younger sister, and we sat in the front row, at Great Woods. Ian Anderson came out into the audience, right next to me, playing the flute. I stood up and reached out and put my right arm on his right shoulder, wanting to say something like "you're awesome" but no words were making themselves available, and security came running up -- they grabbed him, and threw him up onto the stage; didn't touch me at all!
I'd imagine, these days, that would be different.
Anyway, that's my "brush with greatness" story. :)
I think it's neat that Tony Iommi used finger protection; I've played guitar in the past, and it always destroys my fingers, and I never practiced enough to get callouses.
That's awesome!! Jethro Tull was probably a great show!
And yes, it is quite a bit different now, but I played music and was always at shows (before kids). I get offered tickets all the time, but I think I've done enough hearing damage at 32.. Playing in front of a full stack of marshall amps with drums pounding in your ears for a decade has a way of taking a toll..haha
Did you know that Tony Iommi lost his finger tips at 17 and still ended up having a successful guitar career?! I didn't believe it until I met him at a show and saw him quickly hide his hand. Then I , of course, googled it. It is pretty admirable, not sure why he would hide it. And Bob Ross - that was shocker to me, I never would've guessed!
Still shreds! I saw the Black Sabbath farewell tour and the reunion tour. Between Ozzy and Sabbath I've been to 8 shows between the two. Funny thing is I spent so much time at concert, I started working at them. I got free tickets and passes for all sorts of good shows. Sometimes I'd be handing out demo tapes for bands or working a beer stand. Anything to get in for the show. My brother started working there too (edit: but you'd already know that..wink)((there being a large local concert pavilion called Merryweather)), so we could get in free..Damn good times!

That's wild to learn! I love that most art comes from adversity. And, I suppose, that last sentence just put meaning into my Flame Painting explorations...
Also neat that you worked at what you loved! My software career was similar, I loved teaching the computer to do things.

Yes it sure does
art in any medium is a great outlet. I think I'd die without some outlet to create. One reason I'm thankful for this platform. I admire people that can teach computers what to do - I struggle enough with my kids..haha All jokes aside, I have always found ways to work at what I love, whether it paid or not. I have done all sorts of jobs and have learned many trades. I enjoy learning. I had never seen Flame Painting until you shared some works. Haven't been on much lately, it's been chaos and conundrums for me. I'll go explore some of your paintings now ;) Happy Friday and send some good videos my way whenever you like - you curate music and video better than most tv networks! Seriously!

Wow thank you so much for that ending! :)
As far as children, they tend to interpret the words we throw at them. Computers, not so much. :) But -- you need to be specific in communication, which I've learned to do -- but talking to my family is an exercise in ambiguity...
I hadn't seen Flame Painter until three weeks ago when I visited my friend, who's now basically the other side of this continent so I won't see him for a while. Punning, I suppose both of us are in-continent? :D
I'm so glad he shared it with me. My brain feels a little more connected now. This healing takes time -- but some things can speed it up.
