My passion for agriculture began as an 8-year-old child. At that time I lived in a rural suburb of large areas. My father and my grandparents were country people, they were very familiar with the origins of sowing.

The work of agriculture was to prepare the land for planting, we planted corn, manioc, squash, tomatoes, peppers, different vegetables and vegetables, today I want to share with you all the manual process that we carried out with my grandmother and my mother in planting the onion". This procedure is called an organic procedure because no fertilizer or pesticide is used. Only hangover or cow dung.

The onion plant can grow up to one meter in height, in its cup forms a white flowering cocoon where it contains the seed to plant, in its root gives the fruit very similar to a "bulb" this is the edible.

If you want to plant your own seed you have to wait two years, in the first year the fruit is formed and in the second the flowers, that's where the seeds grow

The work to plant the "onion" is very simple, it has five fundamental steps, to clean the earth, to remove the earth, to fertilize the earth, to plant and to transplant, it is fundamental the preparation of the land for the success of the harvest.

The work begins by cleaning very well the surface to be planted, in this procedure removes all the yuyo or the grass with a hoe of hand, as we see in the image

Once the soil has been cleaned, the whole weed must be raked and removed, the weed removed, the next step is to remove the soil, 30 centimeters deep, or the top of a spade. That the earth is soft and can be developed without problem the root of the plant of the "Onion"

The next job is to fertilize the soil, fertilizer is mixed with the soil, here we use cow dung and hangover, the hangover is achieved in the forest, the leaves and sticks that fall to the ground are disseminated and Are mixed with the earth, this mixture of sticks, grasses and black soil is what we call hangover, others use garbage previously buried and scattered in the earth, once fertilized the surface, we have to rake the soil to leave the surface Smooth, as we see in the image.

Once matched to the ground, we are in a position to prepare our soul, we pull a few threads to form the rectangle 2 meters long by 70 centimeters wide, this is where we are going to plant our "Onion" seed, see the image.

Once the soul is made, we are ready to begin sowing. The "Onion" proliferates from its own seed, begins to plant at the end of the strong frosts and beginning of spring, a seed is planted by hole with a separation of 5 centimeters between each hole until covering the length and width of our Almacigo

Soon the plants will start to come out, it is essential to do the maintenance of cleaning by removing all the weeds, water frequently, the soil should always be moist, but not too much the plant can not be submerged in water, thirty or forty days We will be able to transplant

The plant of the "Onion" prefers places with sun, before transplanting you have to choose the place very well and prepare the final store, we must throw a few files to plant as straight as possible leaving a space of 20 centimeters between each file. As we see in the image

Fuente: http://viverospuenteretamar.blogspot.com.ar/

Once we have the leaves and the soul, we are able to transplant our "Onion" plant, we must plant a plant in each hole leaving a space of 10 to 15 centimeters between each plant, as we see in the image

Fuente: http://ecosiembra.blogspot.com.ar/2011/06/cultivo-de-cebolla-china.html

The "Onion" plant will be ready to harvest between "120 to 180 days" from the date of planting

Harvesting the "Onion" is very simple, we only have to follow several steps if we want to be successful in the harvest, the first thing to keep in mind is the fruit of the onion, you will see that it will emerge from the earth as we see in the image

Fuente: https://decoracionyjardines.com/como-plantar-las-cebollas/1628

Once you begin to see the fruit notice that it becomes more yellow, at that time there is break the stem and leave it flush with the earth as we see in the image

Fuente: http://novataenelhuerto.blogspot.com.ar/2013/07/cultivar-la-cebolla.html

Within 24 hours, maximum 48 hours the stems will be dry, as we see in the picture

Fuente: http://elhuertoesfacil.blogspot.com.ar/2013/07/como-recolectar-cebollas.html

Once the stems have dried, we are in a position to start the harvest, it is very simple, we should only rip the fruit from the ground as we can see in the image.

Thank you very much dear friend @ jeff-kubitz for accompanying, supporting and sharing my works

OMG I love everything what you did here. Especially an onion. My father loved to eat onion and I as well.

Do you know that long time ago in France there was a little village where people planted the onion and sold it to survive. They ate onion and prepared a lot of good food with it more like you in your post. They were healthy and felt well. One day France was attacked by a very bad virus of flu. A lot of people died but not in the village. Then the king heard the news about the villagers and send there the doctor to check it out how those people were ok. They didn't have to much to say but the only good explanation was the onion. So the doctor took some of the onions from each villagers and started to give to the people of France. That's how the onion helped a lot of people ;)

Resteem :)

The onion prevents, just everything with regard to the cold, throat pains, asthma. Is ideal for such issues.
