SEC-S20W4 | 2nd Half: Rice.

Dear friends its honor for me to take part in week 4 challenge and its obviously my favorite ones as belongs to rice that is liked in my home.


I found this course effective as it gave me idea to to calculate the calories and also the ratio of protein, moreover different varieties of rice and their information. Thank you respectful professor for given us knowledge.

Obviously in daily life we are cooking and eating but never bother about the proportional menu how much ratio of protein carbohydrates and other dietary fiber is needed in food.

Here I am going to cook mutton pulao which is rich and healthy food in aspect of calories, protein contents and fibers source also taken into consideration.

Yeah I knew about the basmti rice and jasmine rice which are widely utilized at my home and basmti rice cultivated in Pakistan are famous worldwide due to aroma and taste.

The basmti rice contain less amount of calories and also the amount of carbohydrates thats why I mostly cooked it in menu. Its rich in fiber content price is expensive but easily available at every sure store.

Although jasmine rice also cooked but the aroma and taste of basmti rice is more including calories. The other nutrients including such as iron, vitamins, thiamin and niacin are the same in both types of rice.


We would like you to prepare a main dish based on rice or with rice as a side dish (quantity for 1 person). It is important to explain the preparation process and the result. Remember the quantities learned in the course and the elements that a main dish based on rice or with rice as a side dish should have.

i am cooking main dish that is basmti rice. along with mutton called mutton pulao.


My main rice dish.

Here are the ingredientes


  • Rice 00 gram
  • Mutton 100 gram
  • Chili garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Onion 1
  • tomato 1
  • Black pepper salt as per taste

let's prepare it


I started main dish rice and soaked 100 grams of basmti rice thats energy is equivalent to about 139 kcal, I kept it 30 minutes. Take pressure cooker added water and mutton(100 gram energy equivalent to 294 kcal) boiled it for 15 minutes its done. The stock I will use in the rice.

I have not used much spices, I cut the onion and tomato. Take a pa added oil and onions, cooked them till golden color appeared. Added chilli garlic and salt along with mutton. Cooked for 2 minutes added stock in it.

As the stock boiled I checked salt and added black pepper, then stain the extra water from rice and wait till the more than 3/4th water cooked in rice.

Which starter and which dessert would go with the main dish you just prepared? Imagine a 3-course menu that goes with your main dish.

I have served it:

Starter: Punjabi salad and plain youghrt.

Main dish: Mutton pulao.

Dessert: fruit custard .


What has been your experience learning about pasta and rice? Tell us.

Well!!! Obviously in both courses I have learned new things which we didn't consider in daily cooking. The ideas about cooking measurements, making homemade pasta was really useful for me and my family. The instructions and guidelines given by respectful teachers are really helpful for me I must say thanks.
