WINNER ANNOUNCED!
I've never seen such a post! The giveaway post that I made for this camera had some amazing interest in it! With over 3500 views, over 700 comments, and over 600 upvotes, many people in the community jumped at the opportunity.
For those of you who don't know, I had recently bought a CANON EOS Rebel T6, but then changed my mind and decided to purchase a T7i instead. Rather than selling the other (basically new) camera, I decided to give it away to another steemian.
HOW TO PICK A WINNER?
The method for choosing a winner was one that I had determined from the beginning. In the #giveaway post I mentioned that it would be random, and random it was.
I actually spent about three hours writing out the name of everyone that entered the contest and then put the names all into a box. I was going with a random "pick a name out of a hat" method because I did not want anyone thinking that I was playing favorites or actually choosing a winner myself.
That was an insane amount of entrants for sure. Then, just to make sure that things were really, really random and that no one could accuse me of any wrongdoing, I had the tiny "Sweet Pepper" close her eyes and pick the winner for me. Here is a GIF of the actual footage.
While there were literally hundreds of entries, @dalexx was chosen as the winner! Congratulations @dalexx!

I'll work on getting a hold of @dalexx and setting up shipping arrangements, but soon you should be able to see some incredible photos from @dalexx taken with a camera once owned by @papa-pepper! It worked wonders for me, and I am so excited that another steemian will soon have it!
While I will most likely do other giveaways in the future, I'll have to find a better way than spending three hours writing out names! Thanks to everyone who participated though!

What a brilliantly steem-y idea, sir! Way to pay it forward and generate some traffic and earnings for yourself in the process. I went and checked out @dalexx ‘s page as a result (steem rules so hard for little weird moments like this where I’d otherwise never see dude’s page) and I have to say I think the RNG gods picked a worthy winner in somebody already contributing quality photography to the steem community.

That's so nice of you man and helps give the community moral. I want to save up for a camera so I can start with photography. I really need some hobbies. It's just hard being disabled in many ways and not having any job or cool travel stories. I don't like being so depressed without having a purpose. Nice! - very generous of you. Ok, one suggestion, but randomness may be less apparent to someone unfamiliar with this. You could record your screen at the time of selection? For what it may be worth to you, if you haven't already considered... (hoping a it's ok to put a partial url here) random.org is an online random generator based in Ireland that operates off of environmental "noise", the very moment you "pull the trigger". Who they are: Randomness and Integrity Services Ltd. Random selection is self serve and It's a free service. It's quite interesting so for those unfamiliar- check it out. "Introduction to randomness" can be found under the "Learn More" tab, upper right. Fun stuff. (edit)- I would assign a number to each entry and have their system select one at random.

I really like the fact that you made the winning selection process so physical: a real piece of paper picked by an adorable child. If you ever have to do some choosing in the future, however, writing each name on a piece of paper is much too time-consuming and not really necessary.
Timesaving Tip
Set up an online form (Google Documents is one possibility) and have all contestants fill out the form. The form can automatically generate a spreadsheet summary of all entries which can be printed out on paper in whichever size you choose and easily cut up by hand. All of the software involved is free. If there is any interest, I can probably produce a video of the process involved and share it with the community.
