I appreciate it, I have been trying to add good content, but his has been a couple of hard weeks for sure. I was just staring to get traction when this hit. I went from second in the engagement league, to fifth. Maybe I can catch up now.

I will work it hard! Maybe I can climb out of my pond scum status? Radar is off, but thanks!

Last week is definitely one to forget as far as production goes. Keeping people's feet to the fire so we don't have a repeat, that should never be forgotten. I think that needs to be pressed until it's proven that not only do they recognize that's it not a great idea to tick off your user base, but that it's ingrained that all worthwhile results do not always justify the means.

re: radar off

Very good. And no pressure. You've been doing well in the leagues and I'd hate to see that wiped out because you can't function enough to keep up the work. That's like having your car taken away from you and replaced with a skateboard. How things shake out will be how they shake out, though.

Happy slogging. :)

We will see how this shakes out for sure, BUT steemit needs to hire an engineering project manager to steer the next version.

Ubuntu does better, and there is no real cash involved, since it is open sourced, free software. They should research how they do their updates, and copy their process! They use volunteer programmers....

We lost some people over this, some may come back, but a lot of the newer accounts will not return.

On the skate board, I was pretty tired of it! What little I had scraped together was dismal on the HF system! Last week I did more on E-mail than on Steem, and a really good post on smart meters, that I worked hard to put together, brought in nothing because of the HF. I should have waited to post it, but had no idea the HF would kill the entire blog.

BUT, Live and learn, I will keep posting!

:)

I'm not about to argue against something needs to happen. This latest blog openly says they need accountability measures and protocols in place, and they've mentioned tools they want to create to make this all go smoother. So, they're even admitting to it.

The answer I've read or received directly when talking about these updates is that the blockchain is a different bird than anything else, due to its decentralized and always running nature (supposed to be running nature). I'm not an expert at any of that, but it does make sense to me to a degree that things could be harder, and with the blockchain itself being a more complicated program code-wise.

So, anyway, the bottom line is, regardless of how difficult things are, you still have to have a working, usable product, or it doesn't matter if it's like performing brain surgery in level one hurricane while balancing on the head of a flag pole.

The more complex the system, the more detailed the need for testing. A system this complex needs to be run on an isolated network of hundred of machines, with a planned challenge / testing list. Only when the alpha test in this isolated network is stable for a given time, can the system be analyzed for I/O results and the system irregularities corrected before a limited Beta release.

One more iteration of analysis and repair from Beta, and you will have something usable. But that is a lot more work to do to launch...but it works!

This launch came too close to a silent blog.

There seems to be lower witnesses calling for that very thing, starting with raggaemuffin who pretty much spelled it out and others jumping onboard with it. I still don't think I've seen it confirmed anywhere that's what they intend to do, though.

But I agree wholeheartedly with what you're saying. I find it disappointing, beyond what expense and time involvement there might be, that there isn't a full blown testnet clone of the mainnet running already. When they first announced there would be a testnet, it met with plenty of fanfare. Then, we come to find out that it was a very limited testnet to save time, and then most of the Top 20 witnesses did nothing with it until near the end of the test period, and then only a few did it. So, what good is a testnet if it's limited and doesn't hardly get used?

I think there are some that are starting to run backup servers along with their primary server and seed nodes, etc. Each time they add some spot of hardware, it drives their costs up, which should be okay for the Top 20, but not so cost effective for anyone else.

And why Steemit doesn't have it's own testing going on, I'm not sure. They seem to have all their devs committed to creating the code and want to leave it to the witnesses to debug and or test it.

Code can Not be written without a test challenge protocol being written at the same time, OR THINGS WILL BE FORGOTTEN OR MISSED! I pray they have learned from this launch, and won't repeat this type of launch again!

I was building up machines here, to add to steem, but when I saw this, I gave two to Church, and one to the homeless meal charity. I plan on selling the other three, and breaking even. I have cancelled the higher speed internet connection too.

No testing, no design, non professional.
