Sometimes life catches up with you, you're overbooked and one thing is followed by another, making you feel exhausted. But you still need to muster power to continue with the next thing and no matter how much coffee you drink it seems its not enough.
What you need is a powernap! But not just any powernap, but a short, efficient meditation session that will boost your energy and make you feel energized. I use this whenever I need an extra boost. It takes only 5 minutes, can be done anywhere and is very easy to do.
- Lie or sit down comfortably and allow yourself to relax.
- Inhale as deeply as you can. Your breathing should be very intentional. Use belly breathing to your lungs to max capacity. Filling your lungs should take no more than 3-4 seconds.
- When you can't inhale anymore, immediately exhale just as intentionally until your lungs are empty. Then you immediately inhale again. The
- Keep breathing intentionally for 5 minutes and keep your focus on the breathing. At about 6 seconds per breath - in and out - this will be roughly 50 breaths.
After a minute or so, you'll notice how your extremities - arms, legs - and perhaps your whole body, start to tingle or buzz. After 5 minutes you will feel very energized, ready to deal with whatever the world throws at you.
