NEW Workout Trend is all about adding PLAY to your routine
Play is an essential (and fun!) part of any physical progression like your workout.
It's easy to get caught up in a goal-oriented workout mindset. Breaking out of that mindset from time to time will help you make better progress, for real! Trust me!
In the training world, the concept of play or movement exploration is gaining popularity and that’s great! For most of us, it’s a foreign concept that can be tough to understand (and its even harder to find an explanation that isn’t too esoteric).
Read on if you’d like to learn why.... play should be a part of your training practice, what it really means, and how to incorporate it safely and effectively so that it adds a layer of fun and freedom (not danger) to your training.
Why is Movement Exploration is Important?
When you were a child, you moved for 3 primary reasons:
- to get something
- to get somewhere
- to play
We were learning to use our bodies, and we had to be quite creative in achieving each of those purposes. Getting from your couch to the kitchen is a simple task for any capable individual, but for an 11-month-old it may require any combination of turning, squatting, sitting, crawling, pulling, pushing, and walking.
In the space of 100 yards, toddlers get more motion than most of us get in a 60-minute workout.
And for for a large portion of us, an hour long exercise routine is presumably more movement than we can hope to get in a typical day. We're fortunate on the off chance that we can get back home from work toward the day's end and get a brisk exercise in before whatever remains of our obligations require.
The creative exploration of movement that we all engaged in throughout childhood falls by the wayside, but it doesn’t cease to be important. As children, when we were adapting a wide range of new things, investigating how our bodies moved inside and around those abilities was a fundamental piece of getting a firm handle on them. As adults, we still engage in learning skills and building essential attributes, but we’re missing the exploration that gives us real ownership of those abilities. In addition, when you begin playing with developments and positions, it causes you pick up flexibility by the way you can move your body. So, let’s take a look at how to do that. -
The Most Effective Methods to Make Play a Part of Your Training
Playing around with developments isn't accustomed to be done by grown-ups, so you may do not understand where to begin or what this even looks! I'll give you a few pointers:
1: Get Friendly With The Floor ------------------------------
Practice low movement patterns like rolling and crawling to build your sense of balance and coordination.
2: Coordinating Transitional Movements --------------------------------------
Work on locomotive and turning movements to develop strength and balance for smooth transitions.
3: Control Dynamic Movement ---------------------------
Practice jumping and inverted movements to build your proprioception and agility.
4: Smooth Out Combinations --------------------------
Combine movement elements mentioned above to build confidence in executing complex movement patterns.
