A couple of months ago a friend of mine got me into deep breathing and how it is a form of meditation and how breathing basically is the essence of the body.
I have used it here and there and found it quite useful (when I felt hungry, I took deep breathes for a few minutes and it was gone). However, this morning I saw a video on youtube about Wim Hof (The Iceman) and decided to try it out.
What Wim promises in his method is that with the right breathing your body is capable of storing vast amounts of oxygen in your body cells (apart from your lungs). It also allows you to connect your body and mind in a much deeper way and it strengthens your immune system more than anything else (Wim got famous for having sort of an extreme cold resistance, hence his nickname “Iceman”).
Anyways, I’ve followed his lead in the video below and after about 5 minutes of deep relaxed breathing I exhaled all the air from my lungs and didn’t feel the need to breath for 1.5 minutes. Another 5 minutes breathing and the same procedure again. This time is 3 minutes. It is possible, and it feels amazing!
This was a breathtaking experience (pun intended), I used to not be able to hold my breath longer than a minute with full lungs and here I am holding it for 3 minutes on empty lungs! I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely gonna read deeper into Wim Hof’s Breathing Method!
Follow the videos instructions and try it out yourself!
