  • Sugar
  • Elaichi

Cleaning the Carrots
First I went to the market and bought fresh carrots. Once I got home I washed them thoroughly with water to remove any dirt. Then I cleaned and peeled them properly to ensure they were ready for the next step.

step 1 Grating the Carrots

After cleaning I used a grater (crusher) to shred the carrots into small fine pieces. This step is important because the smaller the pieces the better the texture of the halwa. this process is very time taking its take my 1 hours and we need to do it with proper care some time the finer is cur with crusher.

step 2 Cooking the Halwa

Next I placed a pan on the stove added some oil and let it heat for a while. Once the oil was warm I added crushed cardamom (elaichi) to enhance the flavor. The aroma was already making me hungry!

step 3 Adding Sugar

After that I added sugar according to my taste and mixed everything well. I let the mixture cook on low flame stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the pan.

step 4 Final Touch

I let the halwa cook for about 30 minutes stirring occasionally. As the carrots softened and absorbed all the flavors the color turned beautiful deep orange and the halwa was finally ready
