Open Church: What positives are you seeing in the midst of the coronavirus gloom?

Open Church is a weekly post that aims to be a place where Christians on Steem can hang out, encourage and build up one another, and reflect the love of Christ. The church is not a building, but is made up of people who have been transformed by God’s grace.

Steem is not all about money, but it’s also a community of real people with real needs. So let us be a community of brothers and sisters that can Truly support one another with our real lives.

Each week I will be putting up a new post with a new topic or theme for discussion. But feel free to come here just to fellowship and be a blessing to one another. Whatever denominational background your from, or if you’re just curious about the Christian faith, everyone is welcome.

So feel free to share a link to your favourite worship song, share a word of encouragement, a prayer request, or introduce yourself.

Today’s question is: What positives are you seeing in the midst of the coronavirus gloom?

With the spread of coronavirus world wide, we are seeing some countries getting hit especially hard. People are hurting and living in fear. But in the midst of all the destruction, we are also seeing some glimpses of hope and some uplifting acts of kindness.

In addition, the lockdowns and move of churches to online gatherings has challenged more people to rethink what church is and how we gather as the church.

The new norms with our every day lives are also challenging us to rethink our priorities, mortality, definition of work, work life balance, and more.

So what positives are you seeing in the midst of the coronavirus gloom?

Those of us who are saved can show others that we're not afraid. No matter what happens. I'm 61. I'm diabetic. I have high blood pressure. My heart function is compromised after having atrial fibrillation. If I get the corona virus I could die from it. But I'm not afraid. Perhaps God will call me as a witness to others if I get sick from it.

My late first wife lost both her grandmothers on the same Friday the 13th in 1988. Then she died on a Friday the 13th in 1992. I've wondered if God was letting me know when she would die because of when her grandmothers died. Then last year my father died on the 13th of the month but not a Friday. I've wondered lately if God was telling me when I was going to die.

Amen brother. That’s so encouraging to hear your faith. You’re absolutely right, God is in control and we don’t need to live in fear.
Sorry to hear about your loss of loved ones. It’s interesting how God communicates sometimes. I use to be really afraid of dying when I was young, but since I came into relationship with Jesus around 17 years ago, I now have hope and dying doesn’t bother me any more. But the main thing is that through life and death, our lives would glorify our Saviour.

More people are become more GOD conscious. More prayer time and careful living. Most night crawlers and now doing sit at home. Some families are more united now than ever.

That’s great that you are seeing these things. I certainly pray that more people would become God-conscious during these times and families united. Blessings brother.

More quiet time to read scripture and listen to God.

Yes, exactly. Which reminds me, I need to do that more. :)

This pandemic is forcing people to appreciate the simpler things in life and act more closely within a brotherhood.

Yes, it certainly is. I’m noticing that too. I hope we can all keep appreciating the simpler things of life and continue the deep care for one another once the pandemic is over. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the reminder. Yes I saw that and forgot about it. Going to check out the rules again now.
