Given the scant attention the Indian government pays to tourism and the misinformation about India being churned out by the likes of BBC, Wall Street Journal and New York Times, it will be no surprise if India is not in your list of countries to visit as a tourist in the near future or even in your bucket list.

It is the most popular Indian state among the international tourists for its tourism offerings and tourism friendliness.
