The Power of Love brings Huey Lewis & The News to the US Billboard charts for the first time. The song plays in the first part of the saga, when Marty drives to school, then during the audition (Huey Lewis himself, who played the jury, told him he was too loud), and finally when Marty returns to his community return.
In the second part, the 2015 version of Marty tried to touch it, but it didn't work out well. Also in the third part of the saga, it rings for a few minutes towards the end. The song was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song.
In 2018, Huey Lewis was diagnosed with Meniere's disease, an inner ear disorder that causes progressive hearing loss. "I didn't hear the note, just the murmur," Lewis told NPR.
There, the musician claims that he can hear some sound in his left ear, but with some distortion. In 2020, the band released "Weather," an album of songs that Lewis recorded before his diagnosis.
