Ingredients: Morning glory is a type of leafy green vegetable that the locals have been adding to almost all of their dishes. Often stir fried in either soy sauce, oyster sauce or fish sauce it makes a great accompaniment for any rice or noodle dish.

Where can I try this? Available all of Vietnam, added to most dishes you will probably try it without realising. We suggest ordering it as a side from a busy street vendor.

Ingredients: A Banh Mi is a French-Vietnamese sandwich, it is loved and eaten by locals and tourists alike, whether for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just as a snack. Although the sandwich is fully customizable a traditional Banh Mi sandwich consists of a baguette with a mix of vegetables such as lettuce, carrot, cucumber, chillis, coriander and sauerkraut, in addition to a selection of meats from pork floss to chicken.

Where can I try this? Available all over Vietnam from street food vendors, restaurants and cafes. Once you try it, we guarantee you will have one all the time.

Ingredients: Gỏi cuốn is a spring roll usually made with rice paper, often eaten as snack or appetiser. The roll traditionally consists of a type of meat or fish such as shrimp or pork and vegetables wrapped in a rice paper roll. It is commonly served with a peanut sauce, our favourite when travelling Vietnam was the shrimp roll.

Banh xeo – Stuffed Rice Pancake – I bet you didn’t know pancakes are popular in Vietnam.

Ingredients: Banh xeo is a stuffed rice pancake, that is made up of a selection of meat or fish and vegetables all combined as a filling for the pancake. To make the pancake rice flour is combined with water (sometimes coconut milk) and turmeric to make the batter, it is then fried.

Where can I try this? Available from street food vendors, cafes and restaurants we recommend trying it at a busy local café for lunch or as a snack.
