AI seems to be the topic of every other post on social media, especially LinkedIn. And it’s for a simple reason: Everyone is talking about AI because it’s revolutionizing so many fields. The question is though, how good or bad is this for us? Let’s dive into that.
First, if we’re being honest, AI has made our lives much easier. Tons of websites and apps are now using AI algorithms. Have you noticed that when you search for something you begin to see ads for that same thing on your social media? That’s all AI at work.
When we talk about health sector, AI can now diagnose some diseases that were difficult to diagnose before. Do you remember how long it took to get a cancer diagnosis, and sometimes the treatment window would pass before a result came through? Today, AI based tools are able to analyse scans and reports so easily that doctors can easily diagnose.
AI has also made huge improvements in education. When we were in school, we were all taught the same way, whether you were a fast or slow learner. Today, AI based learning platforms such as Khan Academy enable each person to learn at his own pace. You go as fast or slow as you want, and AI tracks your progress and helps you to the best learning path.
So now, let’s talk about the bad side of AI, because, of course, there’s good and bad. Job loss is one of the biggest concerns. With machines and AI systems doing more and more tasks, companies are discovering that they don’t need as much human labour. People used to do jobs that are now being done by robots or AI algorithms. For example, look at factories. People have lost their jobs due to automation. In call centres, AI is replacing human workers because chatbots and virtual assistants can now handle most customer queries.
Privacy is another big problem with AI. From what we shop for to how we use social media and what we like online, AI algorithms are analysing everything we do using our personal data. You’d think all your phone is private, but AI is always tracking your behaviour. This data is used by companies for marketing and there’s always a risk of data breaches or hacks.
The weaponization of AI is another thing that a lot of people worry about. What if AI was used to create weapons, or systems that could harm other countries, this could be a huge global threat. Now many countries are developing AI weapons that can identify targets on their own without human control. Such misuse could be a serious threat to the world.
The next problem is fake news and misinformation. With AI tools as advanced as they are, you can now create videos or photos that are completely fake but look real (deepfakes). It can spread false information that can cause social unrest or political instability.
There is also a philosophical question about AI. What will we be left to do for us if we make AI too powerful? Will we be using our own brains, or will we be totally reliant on AI?
I think AI is a-double edged sword. It can be a major threat if we can’t keep control of it, but if we can use it right it can do great things for humanity. And so, we have to be really careful about how we use AI, what kind of regulations and safety protocols do we put in place, so that AI doesn’t get to a point where it starts to harm us, as we often see in sci-fi movies.
I have one word for AI... incredible!
Incredible powerful and incredible dangerous!
My husband is using AI these days to perform the simple tasks of his programming. When he showed me, I was blown away.
He was also the one who taught me to use AI to search and not Google anymore...again, incredible.
We have only seen the tip of the iceberg. What is still to come regarding AI is going to be mind-blowing!
I don't think I am "geared" for it; therefore, I am so happy that I am of age and not a teenager.
AI is definitely going to win the race. We are too late to stop it.

You're absolutely right that AI is incredibly powerful and, as you said, we're only beginning to scratch the surface of what it can do...
I also think it's important to remember that AI, like any tool, can be shaped by how we choose to use it. Yes, it's a powerful force, but with the right approach and ethical considerations, it can serve us in transformative ways.

¡Holaaa amigo!🤗
