It was back in December 2019. One of the best experiences in my University life. Just after the industrial training, we had the Survey camp for 2 weeks.
Surveying is one of the major parts of Civil Engineering. Just like the heart, it's that important. So, apart from the practical sessions in the university, we had a separate session for Surveying. For our batch, it was held in the 'Kothmale International Training Institute (KITI)'.
It's is in the central hill country near to the famous Kothmale dam. We could have a site visit there too. The location has all the natural beauty, scenery, and cold climate inherited in the upcountry.
Anyway, as expected the camp was not very easy. Because in two weeks we have to cover many things. We were divided into 12 groups of 10 members and had to work under a supervisor. Use of surveying instruments like level machine, theodolite, total stations, and assignments and final project and evaluations, etc.
Usually, the work started at 7.00 a.m and throughout the day there were field works. No excuses for rain or anything. Because there was a tight schedule. And in the night we had to finish the calculations and assignments. Always the work carried over midnight.
In the mist
Raining
In the Jungle
Under the darkness
Look who is climbing
At the start, I thought I couldn't make it. 😅😅 But, it was such a fun and very valuable experience. I had a great team to work with too.
In the last few days, we had individual evaluations, and also we had to do a complete survey of the location and design a housing scheme. By considering the existing structures and topology we have to manage land. A report and group presentation had to be done. As per the prediction from the start we were the overall champions. We had a nice little chocolate as well. 😅😅
Thank you!
Best Regards!
We so tons of photos of civil boys at that time. Put aside the learning , seemed You guys really enjoyed it a lot ! 😁✌️

Did you remember the list of items to bring for the surveying camp issued by your instructors?
I think one of the funniest, Mosquito net is also there. Bundles of A4papers, drawing papers, set squares, Raincoats, various types of notebooks. etc, etc😀 😃 😄 😁 😆 😅 😂 🤣
