Sudden Plans :)

Today we went out for some work and finally for lunch we suddenly plant to visit Citrus Hikkaduwa. It was a quick decision to go for a lunch buffet. Actually, we gave calls to three hotels Avenra Beach Hotel, Riff Hikkaduwa and Citrus Hikkaduwa but the rest of the Hotels didn't pick up the phone. So we decided to go to Citrus. It is located 1.4 km away from Hikkaduwa bus station.

It's a 3 Star Hotel facing to the Indian Ocean with a few old passion buildings. Compared to our last visit to Hikka Tranz, this was not too fancy. But the interiors were super clean.

We didn't reserve early but gave a call to confirm whether the buffet is available. In February they hadn't the lunch buffet but it is available nowadays. It cost 3000 LKR per person. I must say that their day-out package is also 3250 LKR which you can get access to the pool, lunch, and evening tea. The buffet starts at 12.30 p.m and closes at 3.30 p.m.

We were a little bit early, so we spent some time in the lobby and also walking around the hotel. First, they served us a welcome drink, which was last like Mango or ambarella. It was very refreshing.

The lobby is faced with the pool. The pool wasn't crowded at the moment.

We walk towards the beach and as it was too sunny we didn't spend much time. If I am correct, the see area is dangerous as it is marked in Red. One can have a good sunbath around this area. There were no special arrangements for photos.

Once the buffet is open, we started to dine in. It was a four-course cuisine. There was only one selection for soup, which is made with spinach extraction and potato but tastes really good. There were some salads which cover all meat preferences which is very good. You can't find a huge variety of appetizers, but what there were was pretty fair for the price.

The main course was also delicious. There was a good collection of local recipes, but few dishes from foreign recipes. There were beef, pork, and mutton food but I am wondering why there were no see food options. It seems they are running with budget options.

The Desert is my favorite part, and there was a good collection of fruits, but few kinds of pudding, mousse, and ice cream. This time I am satisfied with the main course but not about desserts. However, the items that I picked were very delicious.

The whole restaurant was filled with people during buffet time. There was a lack of tables for some visitors.

Overall experience is average and if I compare this with Hikka Tranz, you can pick Hikka Tranz, but Citrus is a very relaxing place and good if someone looking for local recipes. And pocket friendly.
